Now that I have finished the Campaign fully I feel I can give a fair review.

But for those who TLDR: The Positives of Space Marine 2 massively outweigh the negatives. It is the sequel that Space Marine deserved and more.

Pros:
- The large set pieces and open battlefields are fantastic, you truly feel as if you are in an unwinable battle against overwhelming odds.
- The actual fighting gameplay is great. You feel heavy and powerful as a Space Marine should
- Story is overall very good, fair amount of fanservice especially as you get towards the late game.
- Environments do the Warhammer 40k universe justice especially the hive cities.
- Gun play is fantastic, this is what shooting a bolter should feel like
- Characters are fantastic, my the end of the game you truly feel a real connection to your squad.
- The ending boss fight is one of my favourite boss fights I have EVER played its truly breathtaking, the perfect blend of challenge, counters and length


Cons:
- Veteran difficulty is quite frankly far too punishing to play solo, the tyranid portion (specifically that damned antena mission, if you know you know) Is near impossible with the amount of damage the shooting tyranids do all while you get stunlocked by the smaller enemies
- Health is far too rare a resource. In Space Marine 1 you could refill health via executions while in Space Marine 2 it only refills shield which on Veteran difficulty only has too charges.
- Upon early release there are audio bugs thankfully never during cutscenes but it does pull you out of immersion when suddenly the game goes silent.

Ending thoughts:

I played through the entire campaign in one sitting, I had to change to Normal difficulty after the antena mission because Veteran was simply too unforgiving. However once I switched to normal and was no longer dying so quickly the game was a blast to play. Space Marine is to this day my favourite childhood game bar maybe Battlefront 2, its what got me into Warhammer 40k and is a very special piece of media to me.

Space Marine 2 is a worthy sequel, expands the scale, the carnage and everything else that made Space Marine 1 so special. This game was clearly made with love and care. Its absolutely worth a buy.

Can be played offline so already better than Payday 3.

To put it simply Deadlink is the most fun ive had playing a roguelike ever.

The art style is fantastic and unique, the environments and levels look right out of cyberpunk and it has some of the most satisfying gunplay i tried in years.

100% worth a buy.

People disliking the game are bad at it

The good:
-Excellent gun play
-Visuals are gorgeous
-Gameplay is genuinely fun
- Maps are generally pretty good

The bad:
-fair few bugs
-Game does crash somewhat often
-Weapon grind wont be for everyone
-Snipers are crazy strong on the big maps


Final thoughts:

I think there is a genuinely good skeleton at the core of this game that just needs a bit of time to polish out.

I would recommend holding off until christmas for them to fix the major issues if you are on the fence but I personally have really been enjoying it.

Played through the entire campaign and unlocked every achievement so Im pretty qualified to give my opinion.

First off for someone who adores Flatout 2 this is game scratches that itch that none of the other games made following the spirit of FO2 could. Aim of the game is to earn money and fans by competing and winning races and beating 7 bosses.

With your money and fame you can buy cars and upgrades that increase in quality and price as you progress into the story. Rinse and repeat

Positives:

Driving feels great, its genuinely does feel like the old games. Nitro makes a return and promotes the reckless destruction the old games were known for.

Tracks are fantastic. I truly enjoy basically every single one of the maps in the game if there was one thing I would perhaps suggest for any future maps would be to make them wider. A lot of times especially in the city maps it feels very claustrophobic.

The set piece races against the bosses are loads of fun (except the final boss) driving through the city with swat helicopters shooting at gangbangers while my car suited for speed had a slither of health left was fantastic.

Loads of cars to choose from that are all unlocked pretty quickly although I would argue that they are perhaps a bit too cheap as when i was 30% of the way into the story I could afford the very final car and all its upgrades. By the time I got to purchase it money was no longer an issue for me.

Negatives

Story is a bit weird. Whole thing kind of comes off as the ramblings of someone who has just done a line of cocaine. It honestly could have done with less exposition and it just be about the tournament itself.

The voice acting is outright terrible right now, its funny at first but grating to listen to after more than 5 minutes.

I wish the car customisation was a bit more in depth. Right now there are 3 tiers of each component and the choice is always the last and most expensive one that after half way through the missions money isnt an issue any more.

Overall thoughts:

While there is some work to do this game itches a part of my lizard brain that I havent felt since I was 13 playing Flatout 2 on my family computer. Game is good fun right now but hopefully will be even better in the coming months.

Absolutely recommended

Really enjoying the game so far.

Only things I would like to see are better netcode. Some shots just dont hit and increasing the max operator count to 2. So that people arent locked out of their favourite just because some else joined first.

Tarkov-Lite with enough of its own charm to stand on its own.

- F2P and the monetisation is 90% cosmetic (even the 10% wont make whales broken)

- Cheater issues actively being fixed by dev team

- 2 maps already

- Good gunplay

- Excellent sound design

- Very good looking aesthetics
