After having played Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 and 3 and getting SGW 3 to 100% Completion with a little bit of boring grind on unusual challenges that did not suit my playstyle - I like to sit back as far as possible using silenced Weapons, so meele kills are a little annoying if required.
After SGW 3 was very open and you could explore pretty much anything and climb hills / mountains to shoot at far away targets I figured SGW Contracts would offer a similar degree of freedom on aproaches to getting the tasks done but the reality is that I found many more invisible walls around bushes and somewhat steeper inclines than in-game collectibles.
The result of more limited movement than in SGW3 keeps the distances where you are forced to engange the enemy rather short in many areas making the sniper less usefull and rather forcing you to use an assault rifle or a pistol. If you want to stay stealthy by using a silencer you are forced to use a pistol as I have yet to find an AR that allows you to use a silencer (I dont own any DLCs and I wouldn't pay extra just to be able to use a silencer as a sniper in a Game where Stealth is encouraged).
Some missions are quite stupid as you can stay behind a wall doing nothing for ages when a high value target appears out of nothing but trying to get a different angle, sometimes any angle at all, will cause you to leave the "mission area" starting a very harsh timer that simply ends the mission all together without it restarting when getting back into the "mission area" when you found an angle to shoot at the target.
Many of the always available missions are located at edge or a corner of the map limiting the angles you get for intel and longer range shots, I felt rather forced then excouraged to take the shots from the positions available and am quite sure some spots i found were not intended to be reachable as any movements on these surfaces were increadibly clunky and likely to send me down the side of the mountain.
Aside from these negative points it is still satisfying to hit the sniper shots if you are granted an angle and enough distance by the design of the mission.

TL:DR
- invisible walls limit movement and access to nice spots
- no silencer in the base game for assault rifles
- special missions are no fun if you dont have a good position when they start
- sniper ballistics feel nice with bullet drop and compensation for wind
- AR and pistol gameplay is there but feels neither real good nor real bad

For anyone looking to play an open world sniper shooter I would highly suggest to get SGW3 or Tom Clancys Ghost Recon Wildlands instead of SGW Contracts as SGW Contracts makes gameplay choices for the player instead of giving the player total control.
For anyone looking to get as much sniping as guns blazing action the game without the stealth challenges will surely provide a few hours of content.

He who finds typos may keep them and I hope you all have a nice day after reading through all this :D

Early Access Review
