I hope to change this rating to yes someday. Today is not that day. It's not fun to be playing a game and lose hours of play due to a crash. It's strange that right outside the map play area border (as in the part of the map you can buy) has extremely low visual quality and the river magically empties. I hate how zoning doesn't always hug roads like it would in Cities Skylines and when certain blocks develop it is like there is a small grassy alley and no buildings adjoin the narrow end of the block. I hate how there are no metro transfer stations. It feels like single family housing is bugged as the demand is insatiable, and there is not really a good reason for why the high rent marker is above buildings. I keep zoning and it simply never ends.

Is this game good? Eh, it's not terrible, but when Cities Skylines is heavily modded and after years of updates rather built out I cannot recommend this sequel over its predecessor.

Who remembers RollerCoaster Tycoon (RCT), its expansions, and its first sequel? Who misses the simplicity of that game, but would love for it to be updated into the modern era with it's own flair and complexities? What if I told you that such a game exists? Would you believe me? Well, guess what, Parkitect is it!

Parkitect far and beyond is the spiritual successor to the Chris Sawyer developed Roller Coaster Tycoons. It has a similar isometric viewpoint, it has a grid system, it has a ton of rides, and it was developed by a small team just like the original two games, and what an amazing small team it is!

Over the course of three years, Sebastian, Garret, and friends made a gem. A true gem. Do you miss doing scenarios that are easily accessible, still challenging, and lean towards management over creativity? How about desiring a more robust management system where one must worry about decorations and negative impacts of certain buildings (like staff rooms and toilets)? Who wants haulers to have to haul goods to shops and food stalls? Who wants night mode? How about excellent graphics? How about nostalgia? Parkitect delivers many new features and builds on the its predecesors.

The track designer is significantly upgraded from its RCT inspiration. It isn't as robust as the major theme park game out there now, but at the same time for many the robustness of that system can be daunting. By staying closer to the original RCT design mechanics, it is able to stay familiar while also adding new features. Want to bank to 85°? Go for it. Want to bank your corkscrew? Sure! Want to lessen the curve? Go for it! All is possible!

Parkitect is a gem, a true gem. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who loved the original RCT, and anyone who wants a fun, engaging theme park sim!
