Pretty fun demo with a lot of potential for expansion. Looking forward to the full release to mix things up a bit.

Doesn't recognize a bog standard XBox controller, and all the prompts are controller based even with no controller plugged in. I'll reevaluate after a fix but pretty inexcusable for something so basic and core.

Technical issues aside, the game promises an open world but virtually requires one to look up locations since key things like spell and skill trainers exist in single places with no guidance to find them. Want to make a spell using character? Good luck without just looking up where the spells are. Not much point to an open world if one needs a 3rd party map to do basic things.

Amazing rogue-lite. If you liked Bastion or Transistor, you'll like Hades. It brings the same high quality story telling and soundtrack as those previous games, with even tighter and more varied combat mechanics. Even if you suck at this kind of combat, the developers added a story mode (God Mode) that you can use to see their spin on Greek mythology.

Great game in the same vein as Stardew Valley. Lots of character interaction, and I love the ramp up of automation as you progress.

So far really liking this newest installation. Tropico 6 keeps the great music and humor of past iterations, with some very nice quality of life improvements. I'm not a huge fan of the colonial era, but I am liking the heist "wonder" bonuses that are new with this version.

Excellent game.

This could have easily been a basic match 3 with a cooking gimmick, but there is a surprising amount of mechanical depth based on your load out. Having the player split time between ingredient hunting and cooking was also an excellent mechanic, forcing the player to make judgement calls and rewarding efficient hunting.

The story was also surprisingly good, with some great voice acting talent for the major characters. The writing was pretty great too, with a couple of well executed twists and plot points.

My only complaints are that some of the key binding didn't seem to work, and the controler sensitivity was a little wonky (a lot of accidental double inputs for rotating gems). The sound balance seemed a little off in some scenes as well, with the background music almost drowing out the voice actor. These were generally minor issues though.

All in all a very unique game with a lot going for it. I would definetly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of rotaitonal match 3 games, especially if they are into the theme.

Edit: Updated for the steam awards. Labor of Love category.

9/10

Great story game at a relaxed pace. It's short, but I felt very attached to both main characters by the end and felt they each had a good arc. A lot of people dislike the ending but I thought it was excellently executed.

If you're looking for an experience like a light novel, this game will definitely deliver.

6 out of 10. Beautiful game, but it more like a world of sodoku than a "Myst". While the puzzles are clever and challenging, many of the zones end up feeling like homework problem sets rather than rewarding, as you're forced to do very similar puzzles sometimes dozens of times. Additionally, while there is a lot of gorgeous world, there's precious little world building or story (or ending). But it is a good set of cleverly designed puzzles, as long as you like that specific kind of puzzle.
