Neat little free puzzle game, the main levels are cool but I especially enjoyed the "boss fight" and the rhythm element which that introduced...

..but the real star of the show here is the soundtrack, absolutely slaps; especially 'Vitality' and 'Epitomize'.
I have had it on repeat / it has been stuck in my head for days after playing this game haha

Without a doubt my vote for 2020 Game of the Year (V1.0)

This game is incredible.

As always with Supergiant the art-style is fantastic and the game looks amazing. The characters are really well designed and all look very unique and have their own personality that shines through with their designs. Each area looks vastly different and has lots of lavish detail with many references to various Gods/characters throughout the game, the game's design does a really good job of making you really feel like, floor by floor, you are really climbing up to the surface out of Hades.

Once again in keeping with most of Supergiant's games, the soundtrack is wonderful, immersive and fits with the themes of the game very well, as well as just straight up being great music. The voice acting is excellent and each character's personality and motivations are very well represented. I have to admit in my first run I was a little confused to hear Zagreus have a British accent and regularly call people "mate" in a Greek setting, but it grew on me very quickly and I feel it works well with the 'cheeky / playful' nature of the character, as well as adding a nice level of variance, everyone having the same plain stereotypical Greek accent wouldn't have the characters be as distinctive as they are (an example of a similar setting being AC Odyssey, a great game but many characters are comparatively forgettable to Hades' as they're rather similarly designed with similar voices/speech patterns etc). On a similar note the writing is fantastic, the story is interesting and I love the way all of the characters interact with each other. I regularly find myself laughing at various quips between characters (such as Zagreus being cheeky to his father, Skelly with some upbeat humour about death or various God's rivalries over favour for boons etc.) and especially in this aspect, the game is very entertaining and often hilarious, it really adds another level of immersion and investment to the whole experience.

The mythological setting is really interesting and ties in well with the rougelite nature of the game with the idea of climbing out of Hell being a perfect narrative for the gameplay loop of a rougelite (especially one based on Ancient Greek mythology). As previously mentioned the setting works well due to the interaction of the various characters/Gods but this is furthered mechanically by synergies between characters and their abilities, I really like how each Boon ties to the theme of the God which provided it and it leads well to making really interesting synergies between the varying Gods (such as combining elements of Athena and Hermes on a run to have a high speed defensive/dodge based build). I feel this really adds to the longevity of the game, especially in a rougelite nature with the randomness of what you encounter and the idea of each run being different. This is furthered by 'Keepsakes' which are a trinket obtained via special interactions with a character, they act as a modifier for the run and you can hold one at a time, an example being you start with more money this run (so you have an advantage when accessing Charon's Shop) there are 25 different Keepsakes which can massively vary the start or the whole scope of each run depending on which you equip, they can also be upgraded via use. I know one of the main concerns many have for a rougelite is the longtail of the game but in my opinion this game does the formula very well providing a lot of content and variance (as mentioned above), I think it is very likely that I will play dozens, if not hundreds, of hours of this game in the future! Similarly, the six different Weapons/Infernal Arms massively change up the playstyle of the game and once again add a great deal of potential content with varying builds/runs/challenges as well as being very vast and entertaining in their gameplay differences. The game is tough but fair (like any good rougelite!) I have not found myself feeling cheated or feeling like damage/death wasn't my own fault / there was nothing I could do, at any point. Whilst the game definitely has a high skill ceiling it is definitely still playable at a more casual level, you will still progress with permanent unlocks though spending 'Darkness' to the 'Mirror of Night' (akin to Cells in Dead Cells) so even if you feel you are hitting a wall and not getting past a certain stage/boss you will still be progressing and improving.

I highly recommend this game to anyone but especially to fans of rougelites and/or mythology.

Without a doubt my vote for 2020 Game of the Year!

Zombies!

This is the best game in the series for zombies and is pretty much the sole reason i bought it.
I still find myself (now 5 years later) coming back to this game for some classic Cod Zombies.
The game brings several great new maps and some cool new elements like weapon attachments/loadouts, levelling in zombies and an interesting deep story made up of many interweaving secrets and easter eggs.
The Chronicles DLC is amazing and is probably my favourite part of the game it brings remasters of pretty much all of the great classic maps from World at War and Black Ops 1 as well as Origins from Black Ops 2 (this DLC is also now apparently part of the base game when purchasing the game).
Steam workshop support also adds a great deal to the game as many people have made some incredible maps/mods many of which are just as good/fun as official maps/weapons!

The campaign is also pretty good, I enjoyed it.
The multiplayer is okay, not really my cup of tea but i know it is somewhat populated still.

A great puzzle game in an 'escape room' esque style, very fun and satisfying.

Builds upon the first Room game, a great addition to the series, essentially more of the same (that's a good thing) but a little more complex, interesting story and some cool horror elements.

I look forward to playing the third

I can't believe I havent reviewed this masterpiece already but I cant see a more fitting time to do so than now, whilst I am installing the second game.

Dishonored is one of my favourite games of all time. I preordered it back in early 2013 and have completed it many many times since then. It combines a dark, interesting and immersive world with interesting characters and huge level of detail, to the extent that I have still been finding areas of the game and details that i have never seen before on my countless replays. One if my favourite things about Dishonored is the choices you make actually matter (unlike so many games) as they have impacts on the way certain missions are approached, the way people percieve you and of course the plot especially the end of the game.

Dishonored also has a huge amount of variability which leads to huge replayablity potential, this includes: a wide range of powers which allow you to approach a situation in different ways, challenges and achievements such as never be spotted or never kill anyone and the huge plot and level design variety such as having several routes to a key objective as well as several means to achieve the target such as aiding an ally so that they can dispose of the target for you, or a non lethal approch such as blackmail, or a stealth assassination or going loud and causing chaos with your powers and gadgets, the list goes on and on. The mechanics of the game are also really strong, stable and fun. I am a big fan of stealth games in general and i feel that Dishonored approaches stealth in the right way by offering many ways to accomplish it and rewards for doing so such as characters thanking you for sparing their relative who was a target (via a non lethal approach) and giving you runes, bonecharms or money for doing so. The combat is very fluid and stable and looks very cool with the combination of Corvo's powers and gadgets as well as finisher moves and other similar effects. The game has moments where you can pull off crazy kills and provides an opportunity for fun at any level of skill due to its numerous approaches to everything, meaning there is still fun to be had several playthroughs in by going for hard to pull off kills or attempting challenges such as not using any powers all game.

*minor main game and DLC spoilers*
The story of Dishonored is also very interesting and is multi-layered with lots of small details which really add to the whole game when found and explored including the motivations of characters and their backstory. With as few spoilers as possible the story of Dishonored involves Corvo Attano (you, the Empress' body guard) being framed for her murder which you witness. The game then sees you uncover the truth mission by mission as you tackle higher profile targets and various other tasks to clear your name and unveil the conspiracy behind you. The game also establishes lots of really great memorable characters such as Emily (the soon to be Empress), Daud (the assassin), The Outsider and Samuel the boat man who takes you to and from missions. The game does a great job of showing the close relationship between Emily and Corvo which is a core part of the game and this is sure to be a core element of Dishonored 2. I also really liked 'The Knife of Dunwall' and 'The Brigmore Witches' DLC campaigns which take place parallel to the main story but see you playing as Daud, the Empress' real assassin who as well as Corvo has powers from the Outsider. The DLC saw Daud tackling a strong threat which at first may have seemed out of character for the way he was portrayed in the main game but as the DLC goes on Daud's motivations and reasons become more compelling. He and Corvo are both very deep and interesting characters, I particularly like Daud's understanding and insight of the Outsider compaired to Corvo. These DLC campaigns also offer the wide variety of many ways to complete them and a list of new powers and approaches and the campaigns are nearly as strong as the main story and are a great addition to the game overall. It is rare that game DLC is actually good and adds meaningful content but this is certainly and example of DLC done right. There is also a challenge map DLC which is personally not my cup of tea but I do understand the appeal of wanting to use abilities outside of missions and take on time trial challenge maps etc.

Overall I would 100% recommend this game, especially if you are a fan of stealth games or story rich games with immersive worlds and plots. This is one of the best games i have ever played and I cannot wait to get started on #2 in a few hours.

I've now finished the 2nd game and it is incredible too, a worthy sequel to a great game.

A cool little "roguelite" game that is both fun and aggrivating. The game has lots of endless changes due to RNG much like games like the binding of isaac and others in this genre which makes each run different. A wide varience of characters all with different abilities and powers.
Somewhat skillful and unforgiving but overall fun.
