Play on steam deck all the way through even tho steam say 13min i put 9 hours into the game, if u like survival horror this game is for u

Moments like this where i wish there was a mix option for steam reviews because i generally think this is a decent game, the only problem with it the history from EA to release

I didn't bought it at EA, got it for $2 on g2a once it came out because i recently gotten scammed supporting a EA game before seeing this game and don't want to go through that again so i wanted for launch.

Game itself is pretty alright, exploring the islands felt like mini dungeons but outside and combat remind me of hotline Miami since i don't play top down shooters that often and ship combat is fun. That basically all it have going for it in the positives for me.

There few Things that bother me a lot with this game:
1. As of launch still now (8/20/23) the game cloud save is still bug forcing me to continue most of my game on the steam deck, it wasn't a bad experience but not being able to play on my commute and play it when i get on my PC when i get home was really annoying (remote play is also buggy for me but it not the game fault i just have bad wifi)

2. EA to 1.0, like i say i didn't played EA but seeing from a lot of forums and discord chat EA basically was a totally different game it feel like, it had crafting, armor, more freedom of customizing, and in 1.0 it just all gone with a simple system. Is that bad? For me no since i didn't knew it was change instill 4 hours in, but hearing what they had but didn't release felt like a huge kick in the face for EA player as it would had made this game feel more generic and not the game they bought

3. Story is also a HUGE issue for me, it also got change in 1.0 to be extremely bad and forgettable, NPC felt like it didn't really matter and the science+monkey character was the only one i like and he wasn't really involve with the overall story outside of just giving u skill. EA story from the sound of it was more better and written out and the MC was more of a person then what we have now where they just came back home and KILL a whole faction of follow by the last min "♥♥♥♥ we forgot the monster part of the story"

4. Scaling is pretty yikes as well, since everything is just "upgrade with money = more power" it very easy for the player to always be higher then the require level for most of the island because it super easy to just upgrade your gear and one u get time stop the game difficulty get throw out the window.


Like i say this game isn't bad it just really MID, a fun game to play and forget type of game for me and that would be ok. But the fact that apparently the game HAD more potentials but for some reason didn't go through with it make it really hard to tell you to spent your money on it let along play it

Always wanted to play this game in the 3ds era but always had no money, now that im older and experience with other JRPG and dungeon crawlers like smt series and as recent as Mary Skelter i would say Eyerian Odyssey aged pretty well and actually shock me with the cool niche they did.

Every dungeon was unique in it own way, the FOE mechanic was really fun and wish more dungeon crawler use this, classes was min but this is to be expected in their first entry, story was also min but i guess that why they remaster the game in the Untold series that go deeper in the story from my research of it and combat was pretty fun to use and didn't felt like i just turn off brain and auto battle every random encounter.

If u like JRPG turn base or dungeon crawlers i would 100% say to play this, i got 36 hours out of it (steamdeck fail to load in all my hours cause haha funny hand held) without doing the extra dungeon or fighting all the optional bosses but they are there for people who really like the game-play

Fun fighting game to goof around

Can't with good conscious recommend to game to anyone who daily drive a Quest 2/Quest headset, i own this game for 2 week and run into game breaking bug that deal with the quest 2 headset

-First one was the error with virtual desktop that make the game super laggy in movement and tracking that i refunded the game and re-bought it once i found out you suppose to only run the game through airlink/cable and not to touch steamvr/virtual desktop
-Second bug is what they current have now (might be fix in tomorrow patch wasn't fix but don't happen as often but often enough to notice and still a pain) which tracking for the oculus controller would freeze when ever you try to ADS making it impossible to correct your aim.

Understand a game can be buggy and they can use "you bought an early access game" as a excuse but the game is currently just sitting in my library not due to me not accepting the bug but the fact there game breaking bug that is stopping me from ATLEAST enjoying the game and be able to normally play it.

Early Reviewing but I already like it better then the second game and glad they try out the open world genre again

Was going to post a review once i finish the game but 20 hours in and i can say it take alot of step in the right direction from OT1 and feel like a huge improvement in the overall game, only con is i still feel like the lack of the sense of 8 people traveling together but with duo side quest + combat dialogue with each other make it feel more like ally then random people who happen to be traveling together

Save yourself the trouble and either go play a real farming game like stardew or runefactory, as farming feel like it was added last min and play yourself a real JRPG as combat is extremely mediocre. This game try to be both while also being low effort and quality, the story is the only redeemable thing about this game and that is only after getting half way (20-30 hours) through the game which at that point you either stop playing because it too boring or just want to see where this crazy story ends and in it for the ride.

New patch made it better and the server isn't a on fire like it was when i made my review, game still have problems but this pass month have shown they willing to improve the game.

Edited: With the new class revamp im going to double down and say this is what Darktide should had been when it launch, it have harder modes, new Maps, basically new sub classes for all the classes with the revamp, some skill got rebalance AND XBOX VERSION IS OUT. Believe the devs are going into the right direction it just only suck that the first year of launch was basically them fixing the fire they created them self

This game shouldn't had been connected to the first game at all with how cringe the story writing is
