This is an incredibly dark game with moments of brutal violence, underpinned by child neglect; genocide; betrayal, and body mutilation. This is not satire.

On the other side of the coin, the worlds are beautiful and surprisingly vast. The levels are all intricately designed and have a unique puzzle to solve and an equally unique power given to Cody & May to assist them. It's a fantastic co-op game. 8/10.

This game's design ethos is squarely a product of its time and is very hard for newcomers to get into. For example:
- Camera perspective changing 3-5 times running down a single corridor.
> Third-person is superior.
- Janky aiming. You aim high, middle, or low, but you still won't hit the enemy unless your character is precisely facing them.
> Again, third-person is superior.
- No objective. You start the game and are told absolutely nothing about what you need to do or what item(s) you need to find.
> In RE2, you get to RPD and right in front of you is a PC where you see another officer fighting zombies. You go to rescue him and take his notebook. On the way back to the Main Hall, you're attacked by zombies and Marvin saves you. In the ensuing cutscene, it's established you need to find the three medallions to open the Goddess statue. From there, you explore RPD and solve puzzles to complete the objective. The next objective is to obtain the parking permit, and again, you explore the area & solve puzzles to complete the objective. Nothing of that sort exists in RE1.
- Limited inventory (this is okay on its own) with no way of discarding items.
> RE2 allows you to discard any item out of your inventory and find upgrades to expand the maximum slots. Huge QoL improvement.
- Saving is tied to consumables, which ties to the last point. If you die and your last save was ages ago, yet you couldn't save because your inventory was full ergo had no room for an ink ribbon, you've lost a lot of progress. Or maybe you can't pick up a key you need to progress, thus you're softlocked. You'd have to purposefully get bitten by zombie, to then waste the green herb, which allows you to get the key needed to progress.
> RE2 saving is not tied to consumables.

This needs to have a remake in the same vein as RE2 & 3. I feel the only people who would enjoy this are those who played it as kids in the '90s; it's by no means a bad game. Its game design is just outdated.
If you're trying to get into Resident Evil in the present day, skip to Resident Evil 2 (2019). It's design ethos will be more familiar to you.

- PS4 Story = 194 hours at 100%
- PS4 Online = 391 hours
- Total: 585 hrs from 2018-20

5 years later...

PC Story: 278 hrs at the end of the main story. 306 at completion. 322 at 100%. That's without touching Red Dead Online. It took me six months to complete the main story.
Edit: 410 hrs at 100% achievements.

Everything about this game is a 10/10: characters; story; open world; graphics; animations; setting; dialogue; music; NPC & animal models; atmosphere; sound design - the whole lot. The details in the open world are incredible, for example: individual strawberries being modelled when you're eating them from the can, and extremely realistic skinning animations (fully mocapped) playing when you skin small, medium & big game. You can go on a bounty hunting mission where you can optionally get more information from the sheriff before departing, which adds to the world building. Then when you reach the target area, you can either Question or Threaten the NPCs, both options are fully voice-acted and better yet, the NPCs react differently to your choice. On the way back to the jail, the bounty target has two dozen lines of dialogue which again, the protagonist will respond to. That is one of thousands of player-NPC interactions you will have in this game.

If you just went from story mission to story mission and didn't take the time to savour the world (which is a character within itself) and side content, then you simply played the game wrong. Even the Epilogue has 50+ hours of content. The story structure is like a TV show and should be engaged with as such: not binge-watched in the fastest time possible, but played at a slow pace to fully appreciate the narrative. Because this is not a video game, it is an interactive television show.

By far the best game Rockstar have ever made - yes, it's better than GTA V - and the best game I have ever played; the only one to truly make me feel empty inside after completing it.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a triumph. It's a masterpiece. The Perfect Game.

May I Stand Unshaken.

Had 120 hours on JWE1 on PS4 and this game improves on it in every regard. Even the little things like being able to release multiple dinosaurs of the same species in one hatchery bay, instead of being constrained to one dino:one bay. Adding marine and avian species is amazing too, with more creatures being added with DLC. The different style of buildings from the different eras allows you amazing levels of customisation.

Only negatives are:
1) The Challenge modes are just tedious. You don't have to get 5 stars under par time, so it's just a pointless goal. Furthermore, the gameplay loop is: wait for money to tick up; spend it; wait for money to tick up; spend; wait for money; spend, repeat ad infinitum. Completely boring and stupid way to slow down the game. Mod menus are your friend here.
2) The big DLCs are way too expensive compared to the amount of content they provide. Only buy them when they're 70-80% off. Creature packs are whichever floats your boat. Best imo is the Prehistoric Marine Species pack.

If a game can improve on its predecessor to the point where the first is totally obsolete, then it's an instant recommend.

Oh look, more challenges where the requirements have not been logistically tested, therefore making them impossible without the use of speedrun tactics and/or glitches, which casual players can't do and won't bother to learn. Seriously this is the worst trend in game design and it needs to go extinct. I'll happily take multiple collectable quests over stuff like this.

Fun puzzles and environmental storytelling though.

Update your GPU drivers and get banned but actual cheaters don't. Right. Even though it was supposed to be the next stage in CS with whole new anti-cheat. What a load of ♥♥♥♥!
The only reason this game is popular is because no other FPS took off on PC. What a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke.

CS:GO review

Game is chock-a-block full of cheaters and they are never banned. Cut off one head, two more shall take its place. It is a net negative to not cheat. I have no idea how people can spend 5,000 hours, sometimes tens of thousands of hours playing this all because it's THE premiere PC shooter game. You guys understand that just because everyone plays it, doesn't automatically mean it's good? Inertia has set in for too many of you.

Great game if you've got an eye for details and you enjoy scrutinising information. I love the satirisation of the communist Eastern Bloc (the game is set in the city of Grestin, which is divided into East & West). Has a very quick 100% Achievements time at around 8-9 hours. Overall, a charming fun little indie game.

Think of all the tropes and stereotypes of aliens. Now think of all the tropes and stereotypes of 1950s USA.
This game has all of them. Incredible graphics and charming cartoony characters and art style. Free roam challenges add a few extra hours of content once you've finished the main story. You can easily 100% it in 10-12 hours.

Played this game as a kid and it's as every bit as charming as it is now. Dumb animal AI, slapstick cartoonish models, and some intriguing missions make this a good game to kick back and relax on even though the chase music gives me a heart attack. Be mindful however that it's not a simulator of sorts; more of an arcade hunting game

Warning: just buy HU2010. HU2008 is just the same game as HU4 but with a little extra content. HU2009 is just HU2008 with a little bit more content, which in turn is just HU4 with a little bit more content. Therefore Hunting Unlimited 2010 is the ultimate version of HU4.
