Skyrim has a serious legacy and is contested as one of the best games of all time - and although I see the merit I can't at all agree. Skyrim is an action game with light RPG elements to give and a guise of choice in a plastic world that feels more like a theme park then a real living and breathing world. No Mods can honestly fix how empty and unsatisfying this game is. Sequels should not have less.

Lack of attributes, skills replaced by a system of perks that leave little impact on gameplay, a lack of varied options for armor and weapons, severly gimped Enchantment, the total removal of the robust Spellcrafting systems from Oblivion and Morrowind, a lazy interpretation of the otherwise intersting diversion that was the becoming a Vampire and Guilds that leave so much more to be desried leave Skyrim out to pasture for me personally, and I recommend that those seeking an RPG with whorthwile RPG elements should find there fix elsewhere. Point blank - go play Daggerfall, Morrowind or Oblivion instead. While those games have living breathing worlds with numerous quests of varing depth (and to be fair quality, although Oblivion and Morrowind share a very good number of memorable ones) and involvement, a world that feels the impacts of your actions and RPG elements that leave you feeling like a character that is unqiuely your own (and allowing you to fine tune said character, want to be a Wizard that wears Heavy Armor? you can do that, nothing will stop you), instead, Skyrim has a linear, streamlined world that feels more like a theme park then it does a world and you may find yourself feeling bored before long when all that amounts to your accomplishments are a few measly sacks of gold or a shield that you'll outgrow or find useless once you find out that the world scales and levels WITH you instead of YOU simply becoming flat out stronger and keeping the game feeling 'Level 1' all the time. (A personal con for me, Oblivion in all fairlness does suffer from the same thing and it bothers me there as well).

Mods may keep you coming back to experience new bits of content but nothing can replace how woefully empty and unfilling Skyrim is compared to it's brothers, even myself, who modded the game extensively prior to writing this review found myself getting bored within an hour and returning to Oblivion to run along the streets of the Imperial City again, playing a Thief as I normally do and replaying the infinitly enjoyable Thieves Guild questline.

Oh, and may I mention that Bethesda has hidden this page, and the whole paid mods fiasco.
