Two types of people, Aliens fans, and non. Aliens fans will likely enjoy the game out the box. Non Aliens fans I might have to work at it. Its a AA game - NOT a AAA, they got the license, they made the game, it proved popular enough that they scrambled a bit to introduce new content to keep the playerbase active.

So here's the deal: Its 3rd person Destiny, made of 12+3 'campaign' maps and 3 alternate mode maps. There isn't a whole lot of variation within each map, no random generation of corridors or objectives or similar, like you'd get with a Deep Rock Galactic. They added console crossplay, it seems a little laggy and glitchy at times, but they're improving things all the time. The new DLC is a content one, that added those 3 new campaign maps, including a boss fight, which was appreciated, and they integrated larger levels with essentially doorways that are open or closed to create the illusion of new paths each playthrough. The gameplay is expanding and improving, slowly, but it is.

There are no lootboxes, everything is either bought oughtright in a content pack or earned via gameplay. There is no predatory RMT. No subscriptions. You buy the game, you play till you are satisfied, and later on, when new content is released, you can come back, or not. Like the old days.

As an Aliens fan and gamer, what I'd like to see added is true variation to the maps, or new maps that do so, either fully random gen or perhaps snapmap prefab style. I'd LOVE a first-person option, and often I'll cram myself into a wall or corner so I can get the camera to clip into me to pretend like its FPV. More and snappier music would be great, right now the music is closer to Alien and Isolation than Aliens signature James Horner martial pieces.

After that, I just want more. More of everything. For the price they ask, especially on sale, what they offer is reasonable and equitable and I'd be happy to give them more money for more content.
