Amazing game with surprisingly well-written characters that requires you to adapt to its gameplay, because it sure as hell won't adapt to you. A breath of fresh air in today's AAA gaming.

Great bite-sized (about 4-5 hours), retro-styled adventure game. Its main strengths are worldbuilding, soundtrack, and beautiful art direction. Some of the puzzles can be a little ambiguous, but there's never *too* many rooms to visit or items to combine, so the trial and error method works just fine if you get stuck. I'm hoping for a sequel or a novel set in this universe!

Early Access Review
This game is very obviously a work in progress and there's a lot of rough edges. However, when you look past them and forgive the unpolished technical state, you'll find a promising project with a lot of potential that's pretty fun to play even now.

The first episode takes place in a broken space station (or a space ship?) full of interconnected paths that are a joy to explore and to get lost in. Don't expect any hand-holding, though. The game gives you no directions and you're left to figure things out on your own.

I think it's also important to say that currently there's (almost) no in-game story or lore, but that's apparently a subject to change with further development.

Fun bosses, tough platforming challenges, and awesome music. Can be finished in about 90 minutes, but it's still a pretty sweet deal for the low asking price. It has great speedrunning features, too, if you're into that sort of thing.

A short and easy to 100% metroidvania with a cute story and fun bosses. Graphics felt way too simple in the beginning, but I got used to them and they have their own charm to them.

The only thing that spoils the experience are the default keyboard controls that only utilise one half of the keyboard, so you either have to play with your hands really close together, which isn't very comfortable, or use just one hand for everything and hope cramps will arrive later than sooner. Luckily, the game lets you change the bindings to your liking.

Don't forget to enable auto-shoot, too. Unless you're masochistic and want even more hand cramps.

I'm honestly too lazy to write a long-arse review since there's so many of them already. Just let me say this:

The game has absolutely NOTHING to do with the previous two except the main characters. The battle system is in my opinion not that entertaining, graphics are ugly and low-budget-ish and even the music is below the average for a FF game with exception of some tracks (The Ark, A Sacred Oratorio, Altar of Light, Claire Farron, Sash and Dajh, Sneaking In and a few others).

And yet I did enjoy playing Lightning Returns. XIII characters really grew on me and it was interesting to watch their personalities develop through all three games. That said - the story (although still confusing) is great, voice acting fabulous again (at least in Japanese) and the finale pretty satisfying.

What really surprised me was a depth of side quests. The quests themselves were made in a boring "fetch this and that" style known from many MMORPGs, but their backstories were always beautiful. Especially the "Life of a Machine" quest almost made me shed a tear.

Aaand that's about it. The game is fun, but totally not for everyone.

• One of the best FF battle systems - check
• Great characters - check
• Eargasmic music - check
• Confusing story - also check
• ♥♥♥♥♥♥ port - of course, what else did you expect?

Type-0 is your classic Final Fantasy with all its qualities and flaws.

I dare to say that this is the best game I've ever played. No more words needed. Everybody should give Dark Souls a shot. The feeling of satisfaction when you finally beat it is indescribable.

I really like the previous game and don't care what people say about it. I love it for its story and characters, but not the gameplay.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 got improved in almost everything! It's not linear anymore, the battle system is slightly better and you can also catch some monsters and make them fight for you.

Music is phenomenal again, but that's probably nothing surprising. FF series always had great music.

The only thing that is not so good in this one is, sadly, story. It is even more confusing than before, but I still found it pretty enjoyable. Even though there're not so many characters, but the main villain is awesome. Also the Japanese dubbing is fabulous, by the way.

The port is bad as always, and the game has problems to run even on 30 FPS. I did not mind that much. I didn't even try any performance mods.

I enjoyed playing XIII-2 more than its predecessor. Maybe because it was a bit shorter... I don't know. Everyone who had complains about XIII should give this game a shot.

I'm looking forward to Lightning Returns.

FF XIII is a really linear game. Honestly, its gameplay is too repetitive and I cannot say that I enjoyed it. It was not the gameplay what pushed me forward. It was the awesome story, characters and a pretty good voice acting (at least the Japanese one).
