M.A.S.S. Builder in its current state is a decent game. The customization is fantastic, but the gameplay somewhat pales in comparison.

The gameplay is a fast paced hack'n'slash with a simple formula, but basic enemies are bullet sponges even on the easiest difficulty which gets repetitive quickly (I upgraded my mech a lot and it still poses this issue). The camera is a bit clunky as it doesn't follow your mech properly when using a melee weapon.

Ranged weapons are honestly hit or miss at the moment. They're just ok depending on what attachments you use such as a heavy one shot type for grouped up monsters, but even then the amount of hp/shield each monster has just ruins the momentum.

If they were to fix the hp and shield of the monsters and buff ranged weapons to be more than just peppering tools, the gameplay would be a lot more enjoyable. It shouldn't take 30 seconds for me to slash down a single basic enemy in the early stages on easy with an upgraded mech and elemental additions.

As it stands, is it worth purchasing and trying out? Definitely, the customization itself is a large part of the game for a reason. The devs are consistently accepting feedback and providing updates which is awesome, and with the future additions of CO-OP and PvP, M.A.S.S. Builder certainly has a bright future.
