This here feels oldschool in a good way.
It feels very unpolished though. Controller support isn't really there yet, opening the map screen is attached to a loading screen for some reason and melees could still use a lot of care. Somehow you can currently buy a support pack (which I happily did) that has a skin for a greatsword and greatswords aren't even in the game yet.

What is here is fun and I will relish in ramping up the hours into the thousands.

This is actually quite interesting. The randomness felt a bit off when playing but I just chalked it up to luck going either way.
But apparently the card drawing system is not entirely random. People did research and discovered that true randomness is not coded inside this game when it comes to card drawing, player matching and deck matching.

The game, and this has been apparently confirmed, deliberately messes with those things. As such, I find no reason to engage with this game any longer.

I find this tool insanely good and it changed how I play video games. The frame interpolation feature is awesome and is handy in so many situations.

It can take your normal framerate and double it through frame interpolation. I adore high framerate gaming for the added smoothness to animations and having theoretically high frame rates at any game, regardless of framerate locks and other nonsense is tremendous. This piece of software is set on autostart and I enable it in almost every situation.

60 FPS lock like in Elden ring? No biggie, smooth animations throughout with this.
Summer heat is a bit harsh for my PC to pump out additonal warmth? No biggie, just lock FPS and turn Lossless scaling on. Less demand on the hardware and still great animation smoothness.

Even in competitive games like Tekken 8, where the theoretical added amounts of input lag should bother me is well worth the added smoothness to the animations. I don't want to do without this tool anymore.

I only wish it were available on Linux. AMD fluid motion doesn't even come close.

Bait and switch monetisation. The devs and publishers knew that their aspirations to implement lazy battle passes and close to decade old costumes imported from tekken 7 will rightfully have every reviewer see this game in a very negative light.
So they hid it and dumped it on the player base 2 months after release.

Performance wise it doesn't really look all that great. I own a gtx 1060 and a i5 8400. At 1080p it's a solid 60. However, when I ran 3440x1440 or 2560x1080 the performance took a gigantic hit and I got into the 40s. The game also doesn't support widescreen gaming and I have encountered some online problems.

I do not doubt that the game itself is great. But I bet if you can bide your time a bit, wait for a patch or two to come out and possibly some mods, then this game can be a great purchase later down the line. For now, it really wasn't working all that well for me.

This is the tekken I hoped for.

To get this out of the way first, performance wise it seems to be a constant 60 fps with my gtx 1060 and my i5 3570k at 1440p with ultra settings. I did manage to achieve 45 fps at the most demanding map I could find on ultra settings at 4k resolution. I couldn't find any problems online in my first few hours of play. However, the options menu is somewhat slacking. It provides not many options as one would wish from modern titles but the important bits are there. It does have a upscaling slider too and borderless window mode works perfect for me. I personally prefer playing with keyboard and I found it to work absolutely flawlessly. Controllers like the xbox one controller seem to work perfect as well.

As for the gamemodes, you got your typical story mode with lots of cutscenes. An arcade mode, online, versus and treasure mode in which you can unlock cosmetics for your character. Unfortunately, nothing outstanding. The training mode is very extensive and offers lots of options as well as some sample combos to give one a rough idea about how the combo system works but it is obvious that new players should start with the story mode as this should teach one the basics of the game.

Gameplay wise, this game has been in the arcade for some time now and has been played in tournaments since 2 years now. Because of that, the game balance is very finely tuned and whenever I lost, it felt like it was due to my own inability or inexperience.

Overall i am very pleased with the game. The lack of game modes are of course a bit saddening but I guess most people would spent most their time in online play anyway. As far as I see it, this is a must have for any fighting game lover.

Didn't take me long to finish it but it was quite enjoyable. Shame that the attack button (space) is the same key as pick up. It happened to me a few times that mid fight that I kept switching between weapons instead of dealing actual damage.

The game looks beautiful and runs well on my gtx 1060 with 60 fps. The game seems balanced however it has one gigantic flaw which pretty much kills all joy I have with this game. The time you spent doing nothing inbetween rounds is just atrocious.

Here is how it goes:

Game found, loading screen for what feels like 10 seconds.
Round 1 starts, camera pans for another 10 seconds.
Then you get to start playing for on average a 20-30 second round in duel.
Round ends, nothing happens for 10 seconds.
Fade to black, next round starts, 10 seconds camera pan.

This goes on for 5 rounds in 1v1s. This is just atrocious. I don't want to wait so long just so I can have my little bursts of enjoyment. Especially when considering that this is utterly unnecessary. And the worst thing of it all, alt tabbing the game to often results in a hard crash to the pc.
