Combat is really good, but the world is so empty and bland feeling...there's literally nothing to this game. I tried to convince myself otherwise as I really do enjoy the combat, but when that's all there is and there's SO MUCH empty 'exploration' in-between enemy encounters...what is the point?

I get that some people will really dig it and I understand. But in my case it just didn't stack up and I really wish it had. I don't know if Avalanche can do better, but I know that ID can. Bethesda? Well they just suck these days.

Going to stand alongside Steam on this one. The game is not bad, entertaining sure but...hardly worth the cost of admission. I was honestly hoping it would be better, but so far the narrative is much the same as the second game with regard to being imprisoned and stripped of all my gear in under 15 minutes.

Where is your creativity, 4A? Honestly, you can keep whatever sequel to this crap you pump out off of the PC platform, we're better off without it.

***UPDATE***

Still don't recommend this game. I have no idea why the quality of the shooting is so 'off', but it is and there is something to be said for this game needing an overhaul and some serious TLC in the gameplay department. I have no idea why the shooting mechanics are as sluggish as they are, or why these graphics look so horrible, but they do and I cannot in good conscience recommend this game.

Metro 2033 is a much, much better game in *every* way. Metro Last Light is worth playing. Exodus? Just say no it and its buggy, garbage DLC.

This whole 'redux' thing is a big joke. It looks just like the old version of Last Light. TOTAL RIPOFF!

This is NOT Wipeout. Not even close. The controls are sluggish, tracks are chaotic in a bad way, and I think the huge difficulty is present as a result of poor design, and not the intentional result of creating a game which is as hard as this is. It's a cool concept, but after the first couple hours it all goes to pot.

I'll check back in in a couple months, but since the tracks themselves are a part of the problem...I don't see this game's difficulty and game design being fixed. Stranger things have happened though.

tl;dr Wipeout HD was a hell of a lot better...

I dig the single player campaign quite a bit, but since that's all the game has to offer, it should be a lot longer.

Multiplayer? A festering pile of ♥♥♥♥ which was designed for an audience I'm honestly not familiar with. So I hate to say it...but buy it on sale.

I'm switching this review to a negative rather than a positive review. Why? The game lacks any meaningful story whatsoever, and while the combat is fun...this is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RPG (supposedly). This feels more and more like Serious Sam than Fallout every time I play it. The shooting mechanics in this game are NOT good enough to stand alone. Come on Bethesda, really?

Early Access Review
I've been making it a point to give a very, very close look to anything Devolver puts their hand to after playing Hotline Miami. I can safely say that this game continues on in the style of that (amazing) game. Devolver is proving that they're willing to put money into polishing/delivering concepts that are stylish and enjoyable.

The atmosphere in this game is awesome, very dark and involved. Personally I dig the overhead, infrared camera style of gameplay, but it won't be for everyone. The music in this game is contemplative, moody, dark, and thoughtful...not unlike Boards of Canada's more minimalistic stuff.

Gameplay is tight in terms of movement, but I must say that in terms of aiming the controls are a bit sensitive. Please bear in mind though that I'm using a mouse and keyboard, and turning down the DPI did help somewhat. While the combat is fairly intuitive, there will be some cheap deaths experienced immediately after leaving a building.

It is important to note though that cheap deaths these days are often just a sign that we're all being spoiled by games that are way too easy. What I'm trying to say is that this game has a whole lot of promise for being in early access, and much like BroForce I have every confidence that Devolver will deliver a very polished product in the end.

At the price point especially...what's not to love?

So, you screwed your old player base by dropping the price to $5.00 and including microtransactions?! Ridiculous! I will NEVER buy another game from you EVER!

Personally, this is my GOTY. I can't say enough about how amazingly optimized this is, but what I can say concretely is that I'm running this at 100+ FPS @ 1080p with 2 680s, which is AWESOME! I will also say that the cut scenes are a WELCOMED addition to this game, unlike the gross amount of them found in MGS 4. I had my own reservations about using the horse, and I honestly thought that maybe it would be a gimmick, but it's not.

This has been heralded as Komami's swan song and it just might be, but they went out with one hell of a bang. Buy it. Now.
