OK, here's the short version: you need a free hour and one of two other things: immense patience or a bottle of cold beer.

SEIZURE WARNING, POSSIBLE PAIN AND NAUSEA
I will mention these issues later, however here they are grouped together.
  • SEIZURE WARNING. There is a door early in the game with a very trippy pattern that caused motion sickness in me, however due to it flashing pattern it may pose a substantial seizure risk.
  • Screen tearing can cause simulator/motion sickness.
  • Audio is very poorly normalized, leading to some very loud scene transitions, as well as certain areas of speech that are accompanied with loud music, meaning you risk ear pain if you try to actually listen to the speech.

STORY
Yeah, this game starts out pretty well, however it does become a bit of a slog halfway through. That's not to say it's not enjoyable, however it can be painfully boring. There are two sections in fact where you literally have to do nothing but hold in a button constantly for about 2 minutes while the developer speaks, the second one actually resetting the timer if you let go of the button. I'd compare the experience to a less polished version of "The Beginner's Guide" as that is what it quite reminds me of, especially later into the game. It's still a pretty decent experience though, and it is free.

(SPOILER) STORY OPINION

I find this game rather confusing, as it doesn’t seem to have much in the way of cohesion. In the beginning of the game, it’s about the developer’s dreams, and while they are confusing, they are interesting and pretty fun to explore. They also don’t overstay their welcome. The game then changes into a “rejected staring artist” narrative. It is actually pretty relatable, though forced. The reason I say that is there is a scene where if you look back you see harsh criticisms of his games on Gamejolt. Now, I don’t know the developer, perhaps the critiques are from family or instructors (which would be oddly harsh, but some instructors are terrible that way), however upon checking his Gamejolt game comments, his games are pretty well received, in fact all of the ones I checked were nothing but positive.

Update, the developer explained that these aren't views of others but rather his own.

StevenHarmon の投稿を引用:
As I had mentioned in the dev commentary, those comments aren't those of other people. The gamejolt community is actually very nice for the most part, but rather my own thoughts on my games. Everyone is a critic, however I'm my own worst critic.

The game then changes to an interesting sort of “The Beginner’s Guide” sort of experience for a bit, and that was also pretty good. Again, my only major issue with it is that the three major sections to this game are pretty...disconnected.

TECHNICAL
Now, for some technical stuff as well that you may care about. This game suffers from severe screen tearing in certain areas, and it also has so very trippy effects in certain other places, like in some doors. This is notable as for me and some of the people who watch my videos it causes a bit of nausea, so you may want to watch out if you suffer from more severe motion or simulator sickness. This was on the highest quality settings at 60fps. The game does however run very smoothly otherwise, as typical with decent programming on the Unity engine. Using a gamepad, however, despite the game giving instructions for it appears to be pointless, as many of the inputs do not seem to be properly set up.

AUDIO
While the music is great, the audio is very poorly optimized in a areas, especially where there is speech. I had extreme difficulty hearing him at certain points, specifically this one point where there is a loud piano playing at the same volume as the speech, making it almost impossible to hear it without turning up your volume to painful levels.

OVERALL
Despite the flaws, it’s a pretty decent free game. It would need a lot of optimization for this game to be worth money, but I feel the developer is pretty skilled. I recommend it as long as you have time and the major pain causers are not an issue.

MY EXPERIENCE
I actually made a let’s play of this game (was pretty fun to make). It’s pretty light-hearted, though it does point out the issues and qualities.

Here’s the short version: I would definitely recommend this game for people looking for an interesting, challenging, and cheap horror game.

If you’d rather not read a long review, or would like to see gameplay, I did a let’s play of it: https://youtu.be/jTxtYANW1EA
Otherwise, here is the full review. Warning, there are minor spoilers.

The basic premise of this game is that you are trying to complete a satanic ritual by collecting several items and then journeying to the titular Dead End Road. As you do so, you are assaulted by many nightmarish creatures, as well as sudden and dangerous events, such as a random train crossing appearing in the middle of the road.
Now the question is whether this premise is well executed. Overall, I feel the it is, however there are concerns. For instance, the game is very vague about your goals. You are told to collect a select few items, however, it isn’t until the end that you realize that there are more specific requirements for the quality of the items than initially stated. You are also left in the dark as to how to deal with some of the dangerous events. This can result in cheap deaths, and as a result can lead to very aggravating failed attempts. Thankfully, the game is short, meaning the loss in progress isn’t too bad. The game relies a lot on vagueness to extend the game’s overall playtime, however, this isn’t a problem if you enjoy that sense of discovery. There aren’t too many cheap ways to die, and because you can control how fast you travel, you are ultimately in control of the difficulty of reaction based events.
Overall, the game is surprising good for such a simple concept, and is generally well executed. For only $2.99 I got over an hour of playtime, which I’d consider a good deal, considering a Starbucks coffee can cost that much. If you enjoyed similar games, like Five Nights at Freddie’s, you will most likely enjoy this game.

Going to be quick. This game changed, and I no longer enjoy it. The developer, Adam, for one thing is a bit of an ass. You see here is what he did: he removed the location tracker from the game as a sort of secret change in the latest patch. You see, what this did was it gave people, like me, a way of visually seeing when the kidnapper is tracking you. This was the only way I could play the game. Now Adam secretly removed it, forcing you to listen to the minute sounds that play in the background, sounds so quiet I had to boost the audio post recording to even hear it, just to avoid a kidnapper that already doesn't make sense as a gameplay mechanic. I'm sorry, I changed my review to a possitive one when I learned of the tracker, but now that it's gone, I cannot recommend it. If the dev changes it back, I'll also change back my review, but till then, don't buy it, it's just agravating.

I love the original spelunky. That game was mashup of Castlevania's extreme difficult and whip action, Super Mario's difficult platforming and head stomping, Cave Story's flipping amazing music, and the procedurally generated levels of a roguelike. The problem is, the new version of Spelunky replaced the soundtrack! It isn't a bad new soundtrack, but I find the original to be better, and there is no ingame setting to change it. However, besides that and the mandatory tutorial, the game is excellent and retains the original's gameplay. I'd recommend buying it, even just as a means of supporting the developer.

An excellent game. It is essentially a medieval simulator, with a wide variety of options and activities inspired by that period of feudalism. Not impressive in terms of graphics, and the A.I. can easily be tricked, but overall it is enjoyable.
Four out of five stars.
