I bought Medieval Dynasty about a year ago during its Early Access. I specifically waited to play for the game to be "finished" and fully completed.

Today I decided to give it a good college try; all in an attempt to see what particularly distinguishes this management sim from the plethora of others. After 2 hours, my overall conclusion is: Nothing note worthy and extremely basic management.

There isn't any set directive for the quests. I spent a good 20 minutes trying to advance the quest in the second story. I walked around the whole village and interacted with everyone, yet the quest stayed exactly the same. Something about "Keeping an eye out for Oxbrow". Whatever that means. I became majorly bored and decided to just build my own village on a random part of the map. That is what I quite literally did for an hour and a half.

I killed animals, built tools, broke tools, chopped trees 7 times to fell them, then chop 3 times to make logs, occasionally mauled by bears spawning in, and wolves half-assed kiting around. That is essentially the whole experience, aside from making sense of the upgrade traits and interface through Google.

Oh and the idiotic management system is infuriating. I swear it was designed just to piss you off and make the game cumbersome for no valid reason. I don't understand why you need to assign ppl to individual homes when you're first starting your camp, being desperate you'd accept whatever accommodations you have available. No, this person needs their own house. That person requires the same, you also cannot add anyone to your home unless they're romantically involved with you. Why is that when I am first starting and making my village? Who is worried about romance when I am quite literally providing roofs over their heads?

I also don't get why the production is so innately disjointed. Why in the hell do I have to assign a worker, then in a whole nother tab to select the item to craft, go back and set the intensity, lastly in the midst of all that confirm all of the changes 4 different times. On top of all that, to meet all the villagers needs. You must get all the resources they need and corresponding buildings built, then hand deliver everything to their home's chest for it to count. Like there's no such thing as a communal kitchen, or ppl going to the town well for water. And don't get me started on how mad I was that you need to craft buckets to draw water from the well, then need the exact number of filled buckets to be put in your villager's home chests.

Monotonous gameplay that mainly involves chopping trees and little more than that. For all this nonsense, I could've just played Don't Starve Together and had a better time.

My last grievance is the Misogyny that others have brought to the forefront of recent reviews. I prefer to play as female characters. So walking around the game and hearing "You should go husband-hunting before your beauty fades." from a male npc was so offensive it wasn't funny. I'd just like to know whom decided that was a good addition to the game's dialogue, like what backwards time is that person(s) living in?? Being historically accurate is not an excuse for blatantly objectifying women.

Bored and offended by that same statement playing every time I came close to a male npc, I just quit the game and uninstalled it. If I hadn't waited so long to play this generic game, I'd request my money back. Save yourself the trouble as I wish I had.

It's fine for what it is.
I bought it a long time ago during a sale. Just now giving it a shot cause I was bored.

I personally don't like the repetitiveness of getting overwhelmed and starting back at scene one. Because lets be honest, there's no base or transition. The game aside from the map is just the same screen with different settings.

Rogues are fun when the gameplay is kept fresh and you feel like you're making progress. Like The Binding of Isaac for example.
GIBZ simply isn't as fun (feels like a chore) and I have no interest in ever playing this again.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game for about 6-9 hours. Got pretty addicted to be honest. The initial intrigue is what drew me in, sadly didn't last I'm afraid.

Just irritated by how nothing was happening anymore, I looked up a guide and went into creative to finish the story. I did not enjoy the ending whatsoever.

The main issue for me is - There isn't a set direction or objective being thrown at you from time to time.

Many times after exploring and finding the destroyed life pods, that was end all be all. No objective or radio message to go off of, after that you're pretty much wandering around for ages un'til you find something of story interest.

One thing I've never understood - Why is every life pod bitten open? Not every life pod found was in areas where the aggressive leviathans we're.

Taking into account the games age, there we're a few things that bugged me.

Repetitive blueprints everywhere, but important blueprints only discoverable in like two specific wrecks. It's like, "Let's scatter wreckage of the same 5-6 items all over the map in case the players don't find them. Which will eventually become a seemingly endless supply of titanium. Also place two important and vital late game blueprints across the map from each other, making it so you either need to literally survey every inch of the map or look up a guide."

Every single human that escaped the Aurora dead long before you even wake up. It fundamentally makes no sense, the disease or what have you must certainly be airborne. Able to infect any living organism the moment they initially take a breath outside, or are exposed to the ocean.

It bothers me how the disease takes ages to do anything to the main character. Like most action and thrilling games, the affliction has a timed course of spreading and showing noticeable signs. I also feel like the main character is a robot, just given the personality of a survivor who perished.

Why are the leviathans so pointless to me? The gentle giants are there as a source of copper ore, and the aggressive ones act as "Don't venture here" deterrents. Especially the ghost ones, that pretty much stop you from hitting the invisible wall at the end of the map. Or diving so deep you hit the bottom of the map. Other than that, they serve no purpose aside from being aesthetically useful.

Why do only the small fish give food and water? Why does a seawater filled fish give water? Killing the large creatures is a waste of time, you cannot eat them, just a floating corpse in the environment now.

Overtime you realize how basic and elderly the game is in terms of nuance and functionality. More specifically, the upgrades.

Why can the seamoth recharge in sunlight but the cyclops cannot? Why are the torpedoes beyond useless for every vehicle? Why is prawnsuit so clunky and irritating to operate?

Base building doesn't feel satisfying. All you are doing is connectively piecing together basic walk ways and rooms. The colour scheme and such always had me on edge, as if I was expecting something frightening to appear. Which would have been an awesome opportunity. The power management is severely annoying, you cannot turn off buildings that are draining too much power from the grid. So it endless says the same emergency message over and over, oxygen not being produced and low lighting.

During my first playthrough, I partially built a functional base. Collected enough materials to build a seamoth from the vehicle assembler. Not knowing how to drive it properly, I hit things and noticed the hp gradually going down with every bump and such. No warning or instructions that I need to park the damn thing and repair it. I drove it back toward the shallows and attempted to park it, slightly hitting the seafloor, seemed to be the straw that broke the camels back. The entire vehicle shattered into 4-5 pieces on the ocean floor. I looked up how to repair it, the repair tool obviously. I wouldn't think a little handheld tool would be able to fully repair a complex device, but I was sorely mistaken. After everything I went through to gather all the materials to make the damn thing, I broke it. Ngl, I wanted to quit the game right then and there. Maximum frustration, just casually took a 10 minute break and loaded the last save.

Thought I'd share something stupid I went through.

Overall, I personally felt my interest slowly die as hour after hour passed. Games like this are about the fascinating discoveries and ways to make survival easier. Two things Subnautica doesn't really fulfill.

The game is okie; but having to endlessly manage supplies one by one is tedious. There is no reason the supply page shouldn't have an auto balance setting that distributes materials accordingly. Also, perhaps an intuitive depot would be nice. Instead of needing to hand place and designate every single stockpile.

Ixion suffers from the same problem Frostpunk does. Reaching a distorted balance of workers and jobs, as well as conditions can ruin the game fairly quick. The hull and constantly needing alloy is idiotic, especially when the steel mill doesn't produce enough to meet demand. The random starting bundles are just band aid fixes that don't solve anything.

I hate how you need to restart from the very beginning every time you F up. The A.I. does jack all, and the research tree sucks. You would think there would be system upgrades, not just base buildings and tiny tweaks you can't even reach for awhile.

I have no interest in playing anymore, not un'til meaningful updates are introduced. I don't need mind numbing gameplay, but having an insane challenge right at the start puts ppl off.

Kinda disappointed.

I tried my damnedest to try and get into this game, but at about every junction I couldn't get with it. The style, characters, just aren't my cup of tea.

It's a modern take on punk rock and boho mixed with cyber nonsense. Also, no puppias to speak of.

If I had bought the game and dlc at full price, would be getting a refund no question. But on sale the whole package was $14. For one thing tho, why cannot I use or see the dlc?

Most of the reviews say that the Ubisoft launcher sucks and they're severely unreliable.

So, another title to gather heaps of dust in my library.

I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.

Not a single death, tense moments when Charles comes sprinting at you, nice side quests and exploration.
For a moderately nice budgeted game, it was lovely.
As frustrating as the nightmare mode was, I enjoyed the days long trial and tribulation.

Got all the achievements too. (Wish you could have a rainbow train) 🌈

Early Access Review
Such an old title, certainly fitting. I bought it on sale for $8, was not in any world paying $25 for a game I don't even enjoy on Youtube. That is stuck in the perpetual purgatory of early access, because the Devs decide to reimagine their direction like yearly hair styles. Which they've done for the last 10 years.

While I respect it's age and popularity, 7 Days to Die simply isn't fun to me. The UI, Inventory, Tutorial, aren't clear and concise whatsoever.

Sure, explain to me what etc does but not where they are in the menu or to access them. Took me a good 2-3 minutes to find the skillz tab, then 10 minutes on top of that just to find everything. Why does hp and stamina have numeric values, but not hunger and water? Tiny little bars aren't helpful. Has the inventory and applicable images ever been changed or updated?

The enemies and environment look horrid, and not in a good way. The textures look like they're from 2007 or 2008. The mobs have such low quality models. I get they're supposed to be scary, but they come off as low budget zombie. Especially the scorched ones.

This game has been out since 2013, and still isn't anywhere near the word completion. Which I don't ever expect it to be.

Last, but not least. The instability.

I've legit had the game crash on me 5-6 times. I only have a combined 2 hours, so that says something. The Janky placement was irritating. Go to place an object and you are one or two pixels off, it places in the adjacent position. Then you must either hammer it away for 5 minutes, or learn to live with it being in the wrong place.

I got bored and decided to just make a new server and play with the cheats. Floating around and taking in the outdated and clunky looking buildings. Like, why does the map look like a rip off of Garry's Mod? Or some custom maps and assets? I even took out the rocket launcher and kept firing into the ground. Creating a huge deep crevice, lord above was the dirt textures ugly. Blow up a building and it has some strange recycling remnant of debris. Homes are made of raw recycled piles? Simply strange, uninteresting, and generic.

At the end of it all, it's a game. Not fun at all to me, quite tiresome and elderly in terms of design and aesthetics. As well as no clear agenda or direction.

I have semi tried for the past 6-7 years to play this game through. Yet every session ends with me raging over stupidly designed gameplay.

Aside from the silly and irrelevant story that tries to play in the background. Game mechanics and interactions truly suck.

Enemies that have stealth and can dart around incredibly fast. Spawn Aoe bomb familiars, and cannot be attacked in stealth. Which they only leave for about 0.5 seconds to spawn said familiar.

How about the s'hite Snapshot that fires a fast as hell volley of bolts. And, they're usually 3 or more in their section.

The imbecilic satellites that provide immunity shields. That have their own shield to boot.

Let's touch on how irritating the upgrades and limiters are.
Why is the main attack (Breach) so weak? Why is making the game insanely hard by enabling limiters even a thing? Why are some nodes or whatever their called, so useless?

Legit making the game hell mode just for a 2% exp boost, that doesn't make any notion of sense. Breach feels like a useless slam or hit that does jack all. Ping, Charm, The Dog, The long blue strike does nothing. Oh and Jaunt, so I'm supposed to have super reaction time to even make use of it outside the planning mode? Feels so cumbersome to switch between abilities. Mousewheel doesn't even go in order.

The rage I felt to just be F'kd in a single fight, have aoe flying at you, suppressing los firing. Kill one of them, the damn limiter makes it so enemies spawn shielded cells when they die. So you just stand there looking and taking damage as the enemy you just killed respawns in your face. So, earn exp at a snail's pace or gain normal exp and have the game intentionally trying to screw you over. Decisions, Decisions.

At the end of the day, I think I know why I've only ever seen this game played once on Youtube. It isn't fun, doesn't have a captivating story, has irritating game play, altogether quite forgettable. Don't think I'll ever touch this obscure and unfun title again.

Y'know I had heard of this game so long ago. Never even thought to give it a single glance, boy was that a mistake.

I can truly say, Frostpunk is fun. It feels gritty, choices matter, death is always a decision or two away. The hallmark of a true survival game. Certainly no hand holding.

Definitely excited for Frostpunk 2.

I only have a few issues about certain game elements.

Why does the coal thumper produce coal that needs to be collected? Why does the coal thumper have a stockpile limit? When the coal mine collects automatically. No matter the amount of gathering posts, there isn't enough hours in the work day to collect it all. Now that I think about it, it's only the coal thumper that produces materials that need to be collected. Seems a little unnecessary to have a building solely for collection of one material. I mean aside from when you've gathered all the starting bundles.

The research tree feels extremely bare bones. I feel like the current available upgrades are only a taste of what extensive list of options that should be discoverable.

Once you get about 2-4 Automatons, they kinda render your workers obsolete. On endless, it gets pretty boring having 1000 people and only 200-400 actually work. Not to mention how restricted workplaces are, should be way more job spaces. Especially when a storm is on the way and you need to direly prepare.

The Generator gets on my nerves ngl. The short starting range, how even having the overdrive on can spark the "It's about to explode!" decision. How coal hungry the damn thing is all the time. Sometimes it feels like "Coal gathering and feeding a generator simulator".

Why can't you set the work hours? Conditions people aren't allowed to work in? Like a night shift option would make so much sense. Things that would allow you to avoid having sick and gravely ill citizens. To be blunt, I feel the aesthetic was prioritized a little more heavily than the actual game play.

I legit had a good time. 😊😌

Scared to F'ing death at times, Stressful hiding mechanics, Somewhat interesting story, Fun cheese spots where you cannot be caught.

My only issue is how straight up unfair some sections are:

Like when you have to take the DJ disc and put it into the sound booth. It took me over an hour to just get past Roxy and Chica, hiding only worked about 30% of the time. Otherwise you'd be found instantly, or after a few seconds. After I finally managed to luck my behind up there, Vanny spawns and chases you. She either chases you or gets stuck on one of the gates at the top escalator.

Like the security office in...El Chip's? I'm not certain if it was that one, but anyway. Limited door power, Roxy and Monty spawn and head to either door. I died about 7 times, eventually just closing the door and hiding in a corner of the room Roxy couldn't see. She entered, looked about, then headed out the other door. You don't know how quickly I bolted to a hiding spot, just to take a breath. 😩

I'm sorry, I looked up the collectibles. Holy lord above, the Hoodie and Shoes are beyond overpowered. Made my experience so much more fun. Which is what games should be, not rage inducing. 🙃🫠
