This game answers the question "What if the original God of War games actually cared about the mythology and culture it presented?" If you are at all interested in Ancient Greece, pick this game up. The devs seem to love the subject matter, and include snippets of ancient Greek texts to provide context to the characters and locations in the game. Just for that alone, it's worth picking up.

The graphics, as well, show such love of the source material. It feels like you are playing a game on an art piece, the art style matches the pottery and tapestries that closely. It's exquisite, and still excellent on it's own merits, with everything looking as sharp as the next.

The game's bosses and puzzles are similarly excellent, providing unique experiences, such that they are never truly repetitive. Some of the bosses stand out among as some of the most interesting bosses I've ever played.

The weakest part of the game is unfortunately the combat, as often noted. It's clunky at the best of times, and infuriating at worst. Some of the are incredibly annoying to fight early on. However, the game is able to keep things fresh, and enemies squishy and spaced out, such that it never truly holds the game back, and provides incentive to push through.
