Surprisingly great for a strategy game from a small publisher. I haven't played any fantasy-strategy since Heroes of Might and Magic 3 since they stopped releasing map editors but when I saw this had one I decided to pick it up. AoW 3 has some pretty remarkable features. The cities grow on the strategic map procedurally and the terrain can all be terraformed to make a volcanic hellscape if you play as Draconians or a pretty forest if you play as elves or a bunch of other possibilities. There's some really creative gameplay with unorthodox factions like Dreadnaughts who can rumble around the map in giant steampunk moving cities. The tactical map gameplay AI is surprisingly good, it tries to outflank you and focuses on your vulnerable units. Though on the strategic map it will sometimes lose it's best heroes too often, turning on Hero Resurgance seems to fix that though. Overall great game. Too addictive.
