Hunter provides a surprising progression system in not only in that various items unlock as you hunt along, but also qualitatively as you learn animal anatomy and hone in on your ability to move and shoot in various conditions. The sandbox-esque atmosphere allows you the ability to make your own fun however you feel. Go on an absolute genocidal spree with your friends, or restrict yourself to bag limits and compare your best scored harvests. Also, each map provides a little bit of story which incentivizes exploration as well as bagging new animals. Some can get a bit tedious and repetitive, but do allow for a quick change of pace and an opportunity to work on a new approach to hunting if you start to grow a bit tired of freeroaming.

The game had potential to be a harrowing story of two individuals and their experiences in the war, but it ultimately morphed into a clunky gaming experience in terms of controls and visuals. The Impressionist visual style was nice, but harmed the experience later in the game when sight was necessary to navigate. The little collectibles were fun because it gave context to the scenes and taught information about the war, but later became near impossible to complete the series of notes to unlock anything at all to the point that it became a chore to find and just not worth the effort. The storyline was engaging and intense, until it became a series of fortunate circumstances and deus ex machina situations in some weird fantasy thing that pulled me right out.

I would not recommend this game simply out of sheer frustration of advancing the stage after Part 2.

Date: July 6, 2019, little under two weeks since the game has launched.

I have amassed 47 hours played according to Steam.
In reality, I have amassed 25 hours of play time, 3 hours of menu/customization/wheel calibration time, and the remainder spectating races in which the game crashed me out. I would hazard a guess that my game crashes on average roughly 10 times a day (one time, it crashed 9 times in an hour and a half).
I crash in multiplayer menus, most notably 25% ranked races, weekly events (which are only hourly in a 2 day window and so help you if it crashes loading up the lobby screen because you get to wait another hour to try and crash again), and you crash repeatedly in League race lobbies. My Super Licence is affected by this, as my attendance score in my leagues has dropped...because of the game crashing. My game crashes in time trials, and sometimes in races themselves (not just the lobbies entering into those races).

I have tried all the tricks I can think of to get things to work, DX 11, no steam overlays, geometric culling off, etc. etc. but still it continues to regularly crash. Regardless, I shouldn't have to manipulate the settings on my PC or "jiggle the key in the ignition just the right way for the car to start and stay running" in a brand new game. This is unacceptable, and is ruining my experience with each game crash.

Great game. Could do without the blatant racism though.

A game with hilarious physics, a concept that would make anyone lose their bladder laughing, and just the right amount of bad art and graphics. This game, unlike other games with difficult levels, makes failing a great time, so it's much harder to be mad at your own death.

However, the racism is a major touch that needs to go. The bad driving asian whose favorite film is Tokyo Drift, the Latino illegally smuggling packs of cocaine and duffel bags full of money in a "tricked out" pickup truck, and the overweight redneck hunter on a 4-wheeler...the attempt at injecting this as a bit of dark humor is too edgy for me and actually detracts a bit from the overall humor this game provides naturally.

6/10. A game definitely worth buying and playing, just with one big unnecessary flaw.
