Once my favorite game of all time, now a broken shell of its former self.

Cons;

1. "Sunsetting" of weapons(no longer the case but the weapons some of which we farmed for days which got caught in this horrible decision are gone forever outside of a few crucible game modes since their item levels are locked) and content people love.(Almost every other big mmo out there manages to keep their valuable old content(planets/zones, dungeons, raids... in short activities and places people loved and shared) intact even If only for the sake of keeping people immersed in the game world yet here conveniently, the literal darkness comes and eats the planets whenever Bungie don't feel like investing a little more into their game engine and updating it to industry standards)

2. 500 available bank slots for the last eternity yet new items are being pumped into the game as we speak like we have thousands of slots.. (Apparently they managed to discover the technology to bring 100 more slots recently which will be gone in 2 weeks so this is still a problem)

3. Non-existent skill based matchmaking in 6v6 modes past 2 years. Skilled and unskilled players alike are thrown into same crucible games disproportionately and the result is one dominant team 80% of the matches. Extremely frustrating one sided and boring game play. (Although If you are a fan of 3v3 competitive scuffed counter strike modes without bombs and looking for a wall camping simulator rather than a shooter in your fps game you are in luck ^^ Skill based matchmaking is still alive and kicking in those. Except they are not fun.)

I've been waiting for a competitive solo que 6v6 mode with skill-based matchmaking in this game for ages yet it never comes because they know most people will start playing that and their messy "casual" lobbies will be empty outside of the pubstomper clan mates, some entitled youtubers/streamers and newbies.

4. Armor Synthesis(you may know this as transmogrification or glimmer in other mmos) is a joke. After waiting YEARS for this feature to become available, even If I can somehow fathom the part that there's a currency for this procedure and people who pay money can get this particular currency instantly..
I can not ever fathom that we have a tiny(I believe it's still 10 per class) seasonal cap blocking the way of farming this currency in game even though the bounties(quests) required to get enough of this currency to save/change a single item's look are immeasurably boring, restrictive and repetitive. (This was addressed to a certain point but in my eyes these changes are still far from a satisfactory point with 100s of "available" items per class)

The game still has a lot of pros on the PvE side especially, however cons disrupted and sometimes destroyed the parts of the game I was mainly interested in and adored so... I didn't buy the witch queen, uninstalled the game and ignoring it on steam until meaningful positive changes to the points above occur.

I suggest everybody who shares similar opinions with me do the same to get what we and this game deserve eventually...

Eyes up guardian!

Edit 1: Played 26 more hours after the re-implementation of SBMM(loosely) and wanted to share my updated thoughts on the game.

1. Although some of our best and most liked weapons are gone forever, they made effort in bringing some of them back as seasonal content(still temporary content but once you obtain them they don't have a low ilvl cap at least and will be usable for the foreseeable future.)

2. My initial thoughts on the 100 extra banks slots and them being insufficient is mostly unchanged however they weren't as useless as I thought they would be and instead of 2 weeks it would probably take me close to 2 months to fill all of those back again. Which means we will see what happens after 2 months.

3. After 2 years, Bungie finally saw the error of their ways and although loosely they brought back the Skill Based Matchmaking on the 23rd of August, 2022. Which already made a massive difference in two weeks time and games feel at least five times more balanced compared to the disastrous lobby balancing we had before. I hope they keep improving it and don't ever think of going back to that horrible state ever again...

4. Bounties to get these transmogrification currency in game are much more tolerable now however there's still a cap of 10 per season and I think it's still quite underwhelming. Maybe 20-30 would be a more tolerable number per season per class.

Still haven't bought the witch queen however If they stick to the statement that they made recently about abandoning the idea of sunsetting and content vaulting with the release of the next expansion, this review will turn to a recommend and I will buy both expansions together.

Overall, steps in the right direction. Keep it up Bungie! I love this game.

Initial few weeks were rough due to performance issues related to the new anti-cheat software and high cpu usage in general. I can't speak for everyone else but Capcom didn't disappoint by solving all of the problems I dealt with (freezing, low fps etc.) in a recent patch. So here's my thumbs up once again to this amazing game !

Firstly ignore the mixed "all reviews" because most of the bad ones were made right after the launch due to either performance issues ( Basically this game was developed from ground up to target 30 fps like its many predecessors with certain engine limitations AND YET Capcom removed the fps cap and did a lot of optimization work in the 7 months following the console release. Obviously it won't hit 60+ fps mark that easily BUT If you have a mid to high range pc you'll get way above 30 fps even during the most taxing visual effects. ) OR connectivity issues ( Give the studio a f-ing break, this was their first online monster hunter experience of this scale, of course there'll be issues when a massive number of players invade the game during and a little beyond the release week )

Secondly HAVE FUN ! The game is close to perfect now with its thrilling combat, insane monster and difficulty variety and ever-expanding rich content such as collaborations with Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry and The Witcher universe. On top of all these the first massive expansion ICEBORNE is on its way too !

Finally though you might want to avoid the game If you are a "story must" kind of guy, not really a satisfactory experience on that front :)

The harmony of beautiful visuals and sounds is stunning from start to finish and as If that was not enough to rate it 10/10 ( Seriously though it is ) the game also contains alot of challenging and innovative mechanics worthy of a top tier platformer while impressively managing not to infuriate the player like some other games of the genre ... Thank you Nomada Studio for creating this masterpiece <3

As of the 10th of October 2023 Psyonix decided to remove the Player to Player trading which was loved by the majority of the player base to align with the "Epic Games Policies". Another slap on the face for the dedicated players of the game including but not limited to the removal of the game from Steam.(car hit box changes, horrible state of the in game store among some of the others) Down voting it to oblivion until they get their priorities straight and surprise surprise that should never be lining the pockets of more gaming industry "big wigs".
