I've come to the conclusion that Yu-Gi-Oh is a psy-op to see how toxic a competitive environment people who were indoctrinated as children will put up with. Terrible, terrible game that is 10% amazing back and forth gameplay in between 90% toxic solitaire entirely decided by your opening hand.

This game has a glimmer of potential buried under a pile of rubbish. The progression system and controls are at odds with each other making the game seem surprisingly mean-spirited. I'm fairly sure this game is actually trying to make you hate it, once I cleared the first world and started developing a begrudging affection for it it deleted my save.
