Pampas & Selene has the charm of old school action adventure games with modern niceties and features. Part of this charm is a fairly straightforward design philosophy, both in terms of gameplay and story. Exploring the castle (especially with a friend) is an invigorating experience, as you can choose to proceed through the quests from the get go or simply get lost around the dangers of the castle.

To put it another way, P&S has the "feel" of 80's and early 90's games but with some of the edges and frustrating elements sanded off. Pair this with the 8-bit MSX soundtrack in the options (my recommendation), and it's a very nostalgic experience even for those of us who never played an MSX game.
