Charming and equal parts silly, Bugsnax is a puzzle a la creature collector game full of memorable moments in both story and game-play.

The loop of capturing 'snax to uglify feed the townsfolk remained addictive across my entire play-through. While the initial appeal of Bugsnax will be the premise of food that's alive, you'll quickly find yourself engrossed in the witty dialogue and meaningful development across its quirky cast of characters. The game dabbles in a few mature themes but never takes itself seriously as any seriousness is juxtaposed against the cast being slowly turned into food. The writing balances all this while embracing absurdity, and I'd find it hard *not* to love the genuine character interactions with both the player and with one another.

The game from start to finish was raw fun and I cannot recommend it enough. Many eyebrows were raised while on Discord calls after I started imitating the sounds of my favorite 'snax while catching them, and I subsequently felt insane explaining the game to the uninitiated. The more you embrace the weirdness the more you'll enjoy it.
