It's confusing how such a piece of software is available for free. Great app.

I think THQ is going into the wrong direction on this one. I played the first few minutes and while the cut-scenes where interesting, I started laughing my ass off a couple of times. The grunts and shouts of the main character, who sounds like a nervous streamer trying to comment on everything and trying to be funny. He did made me laugh, but more out of absurdity, because his behaviour and speech is so unnatural, its like they want me to hate the protagonist. Let me compare this to Gothic 2, which they should take as one of their main creative inputs. The protagonist in Gothic 2 is only speaking when asked, sometimes screaming in pain when getting hit by a sword. His character was clever and his answers were sharp, he turned it around that he was a nobody and everybody took him for a peasant. I like the witty dialogue that would come up and would gladly listen to the conversations the main character had with e.g. a bandit he just caught stealing. The game was then produced by JoWood and Piranha Bytes, which were German firms, which meant that the game was primarily produced in German. That's another thing that kind of broke my heart, the English synchronisation is such a pile of garbage that I thought to myself: "Then the German synchronisation must be good". Well, none found. Another thing that triggered me way too much are those achievements you get for literally sitting in front of your screen, where is the accomplishment in running 1 minute through a tunnel like level? It also waters down others achievements you get for actually doing something useful. But that's just a sidenote, it's one of the smallest problems. The graphics are promising, but run like ♥♥♥♥. What surprised me is the combat system, which can probably be a very satisfying experience. Mechanics like this are also found in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, a game I really enjoyed playing. It differs from every other mash-button fighting system. The dialogue and general protagonist needs a really big overhaul, maybe get the writers from the old Gothic on board. Because one main charm of the successful Gothic games was the interesting dialogue, world and freedom of path. What I mean by that is, that yes, you have a general main story to play through, but you have different approaches on how to do this. In Gothic 2 you start in Xardas' Tower and are given the instructions to enter the city and deliver a message to a paladin. In front of the city you get the notice that you can't just enter the city, you need to have a role of mission that you can prove. So now you have several way to fulfill your first part of the main mission, which you can do by either by becoming a farmer, a monk, getting a trade or city pass etc. . There are so many ways you can play the game and that is just the first hour of the game. You had a sense of progress and the game challenged you to think ahead of situations. All that is the Gothic feeling that is completely missing here. THQ Nordic REALLY needs to get some help from the older writers and developers, otherwise this is going to be a big cash grab, which is sad. I bet there are even some talented G2 modders that would find a very suitable place in the development of a Gothic remake. Until now, it's boring and a waste of space on your drive.

A friend of mine bought the game for him and myself in the summer sale, and by god, this is by far the best zombie-survival experience I ever had. Even though this game is in alpha, it offers a vast AND destroyable world with diffrent biomes which all have their own charasteristics. This and many other features (like the minibike) made this game to my most favourite zombie game right now. I'm looking foward to new updates and can't wait to see what the developers will introduce next.

But you really need at least 1 friend to completely enjoy this game, I highly recommend playing 7DtD with friends.
