My favorite game ever!

Definitely worth it. Go in with an open mind and prepare to have it absolutely blown.

Having a blast so far, I would definitely check this game out if the initial premise interests you. Mind you, I have only played a few hours so far, but this is what I have deduced in the meantime:

Strengths:
- Systems interact with each other and have depth to them without being overwhelming.
- This game gives you breathing space for how you manage your zoo (as long as you don't blatantly mismanage it), but still rewards good planning and optimisation.
- The graphics are pretty and sprites are easy to identify.
- The Good/Evil system make your choices matter and unlock various perks and playing a certain way has its own challenges
- The splicing system brings a cool new twist that help keep things fresh.

Potential Improvements:
- Some item descriptions could elaborate more (e.g. item stats/indications for decorations, how to source certain foods, etc)
- Some menu interfaces are a bit obtuse (e.g. trying to hire more staff).
- I didn't know I could turn structures before placing them with right-click until a few hours in. Not sure if I missed it somewhere.

Overall solid game so far and it's clear that the devs put a lot of effort and love into this game. Let's build a zoo!

Some of the smoothest combat I've ever got to experience. Game is definitely hard but fair and beatable if you're willing to put in the time to practice and get better against bosses.

Just recently finished the main game, working away at the DLC slowly.

This game is extremely worth it if you enjoy puzzle games; it's arguably one of the best puzzle games I have ever seen. It only gets better if you also care about philosophy and such, even though that content may not breach more than 1st/2nd year philosophy at college.

The main puzzles in the game first ease you into understanding the mechanics before becoming increasingly complex and creative, but not so outlandish that you'd need to look them up on Youtube to solve them. Some of those puzzles took me half an hour to finish, but I managed to do all of those without cheating.

As for star puzzles and other easter eggs: These can get extremely obscure and ridiculous at times. I haven't found all of the easter eggs (probably not even close) and I did need some assistance on a couple of the star puzzles. Without spoiling anything, there is at least 1 star puzzle that you absolutely should not feel bad for having to look up, as it requires some knowledge of history (or an absurd amount of guess-and-check) to complete it. That one is the only one of its kind and it's fairly early into the game, so don't let that discourage you from solving the others.

Talos also gets compared to Portal a lot, which I think draws some fair parallels. If you enjoyed the Portal gameplay, you will definitely enjoy the Talos gameplay. However, the story is a lot more serious, and comic relief is a ton more subtle and sparse comparatively.

I would also lastly point out that I think Devolver Digital did a good job of opening up the game to a wider audience in their design choices. While a few puzzles may technically have a timing component to them, those are done in such a way that the player can adjust them to their own capabilities, meaning that those who may not play games a lot or may have a disability restricting them from acting faster can still enjoy the game. There are also options in the settings for reducing motion-sickness, which I personally made use of.

TL;DR Buy if you like 3D puzzles. I promise you won't regret it.

Used to be pretty good. Then started overmonetizing by putting in more and more DLC and P2W microtransactions.
