The game has a beautiful art style and a terrific soundtrack. The combat is impressive and rewards you for playing smart. It's almost like a 2D Dark Souls, especially when played on Hard or Expert.

The locations are varied and interesting, and there's enough collectibles (that are well hidden) to make exploring the environment rewarding.

The story is pretty straightforward, but it's still interesting. The story doesn't get in the way of the gameplay, and instead is sprinkled throughout the world in such a way that you don't have to learn anything about it if you don't want to.

Highly recommend to anybody that enjoys 2D games like Metroid, Castlevania, or games that focus on the ability of the player, like Demon Souls/Dark Souls.
