TL;DR: This is by far one of the best games of 2024 despite the controversial launch, and is well worth your money to play.

With the most recent update, I've found a lot of the performance issues to be gone. While some do remain, they are few and far between without ever seriously interrupting gameplay. I do suffer the occasional stutter or frame drop after extended periods of play, but these usually occur after the 4 or 5 hour mark.

The microtransactions never appear in-game, flat out. From my experience, one will never be prompted to buy any of the mtx that is available on the store page. I still don't agree with them being there in the first place, but they are harmless enough that I can't knock off points for their inclusion. Also, all the items available to buy are relatively easy to earn, and rift crystals are somewhat worthless.

The gameplay is phenomenal. It manages to feel better in every way than the first game, while simultaneously not making the first game feel dated. While I do mourn the loss of the Assassin vocation from the first game, the new Mystic Spearhead vocation more than makes up for it. All the vocations feel great to play and in my experience, none of them fall behind as one fights tougher and tougher enemies.

Speaking of the first game, one need not worry about spoilers for DDDA, as the story of Dragon's Dogma 2 works as its own standalone story. There are a number of things that veterans of the first game will be keen to notice, but being out of the loop doesn't detract from a newcomer's experience.

All in all, this game was well worth the wait, and I am greatly excited to see what they do in the future with the game.

genuinely amazing game that my cousins introduced me to about 8 years ago. so glad ive gotten to properly experience this absolute masterpiece of a game and that it just had a sequel announced
