glad to see the devs ruined this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ agem latest update absolutly mad torpedos beyond useless and a chore to even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fire even when playing on the so called "entertainment" MODE which is complete BS you constantly still gltich out and break the game when fast forwarding which aperantly even though it can physically ruin your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game by exploding you into the continent of europe whenfast forarding the navigation tool is so horrid that you have to baby sit it and not let it autoplan the route by right clicking the OBJ as itll simply go through solid land masses getting your entire thing obliterated by land. all in great idea but a god aweful execution of it, took a long break frokm this game and came back to a worse version of it.

ill recomend it but fopr the lopve of god reduce or remove the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shotgun traps, went into 6 buildings in a row and got ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ executed by them, i understand they are there as danger but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ they spawn way to often otherwise great game i liked the idea back witht the beta but this needs changing please.

once again another mod that simply has the stupid tendency to be pro allies oh look american sqaud with one bar welp no gerrman sqaud on their can ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ take em oh look a willies jeep no infantry can kill it before they get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by other infantry or simply by its ridicules 30.cal whilst the german bike one can melt with a simple rifle man squad.
all in had high hoipes but nope as per usual absolute ♥♥♥♥♥, unless you absolutly wanna polay allies only which is annoying cause ♥♥♥♥ diversifying your gameplay when you can steamroll with one faction alone.

to make it simple dont buy, if you wanna waste 40 euros if you dont already own the money grabbing cash company that made CTA then youll have to pay 40 euros or so in total for this "game" legit people its a ww2 rehash of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CTA theres practically nothing new the AI is somehow worse than men of wars at time ( not a suprise since the AI in CTA was absolut garbage 90% of the time. the conquest is probably the biggest disapointment in the game for me as i never was a big multiplayer guy, to see them simply crap out a reskin of the CTA version is sad and to be blunt, pathetic the multiplayer aint nothing to bad or fancy its your same ol same ol men of war/CTA multiplayer cant really hate it for that as it works and can be enjoyable unless the magic PTRD hits ya or the russian rifle grenade youll know what i mean when you play this game,
the game has some beutiful modells for units and a lot of detail put into both mpas and units which is a major plus for me non the less the eye candy clearly does not outweigh this games obvious flaws, also a total of 5 or so missions on the campaign aint nothing to write home about but also nothing to get upset about just wanted to bring this up here non the less, and as we all know how CTA ♥♥♥♥♥♥ us all by basically abandoning the game when it came to updating the stuff we got with the normal edition and only working on DLC stuff thus in a sneaky way forcing us to get dlc if we wanted to have a complete game/ a functuioning one at times, can i recomend this game at its current state god no, also not for the price youre better off playing men of war or crappy CTA with ww2 mods (excuse my spelling mistakes ill will rework this review as time goes by and they do stuff with their game)

non the less im not here to force opinions so if you still wanna get the game go for it and grab it but do keep these points in mind.

Edit: absolutly screw this game, the complete inept nature of fixes and attitude in regards to fixing is beyond stupid in total ♥♥♥♥ this game and do not waste money on this cheap reskin of call to arms.

Edit: ♥♥♥♥ this game, and these devs for giving us an overpriced ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ call to arms reskin and acting like its their own game let alone a good one at that. stick to modding Men of war assault sqaud as thats all you`re capable of.

Now before i get started on this game, no i have not played it recently but in all honesty i dont see why?
owned the basic edition since day one it released on steam (small fyi) but tbh what has been improved or better said added for your normal customer that doesnt want to spend almost 45 euros for a game like this just to finally get a "full game".
especially after their whole thing in regards to here ya go its f2p now yet those that bought it get ♥♥♥♥ all, now please dont come at me saying well basic edition got the USA campaign and some other minor stuff, like these devs seem so out for money like an unhealthy amount of greed on their part i understand business you need money to succeed blah blah.
the main campaign (the only one i can speak about as i refuse to shove more money into this) is pretty lack luster and imo slacks behind even the most basic missions within men of war Assault Sqaud 1/2. The first person is a neat little addition but nothing really to show off about considering the amount of times i have used it let alone anyone i know who played this in multiplayer the main use i heard from many was in singleplayer to snipe enemies before their AI would target you.
ill say this next part with a bit of uncertenty but the fact that your vehicles can get dstroyed by small arms fire is stupid like we arent speaking of trucks or techies these are either MRAPS, Dingos, or other armoured vehicles for a game that takes place in "modern times" theres seem to be a big lack of infantry based anti vehicle wepoenry (not that there isnt a lot of it in the game itself but rather within the sqauds) i just feel making the vehicles like they were before resitent to bullets smaller then 12.75mm that is seems resonable wouldnt you say?
also a small question on my end why the ♥♥♥♥ remove the modular damage system that we all learned to love and personally i miss this alot in this game (speaking of how it was in men of war games) non of this HP ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ we got now i understand tanks and APCs and whatnot have that semi built in to a degree but still why even add HP in the first place feel kinda like lazy dev team that just wants cash cash cash.
theres a bunch more wrong with this (like blatently being ignored/dismissed by devs when asking serious questions or the fact that i dont see a good future for gates of hell regaridng the fact it belongs to this pile of garbage now, but ill call it quits here as to not extend the review longer than it already is.
do i recomend this god no, go an buy men of war assault sqaud 1 or 2 (go for 2 since workshop exist) and just use one of the many modern day mods like red rising or whatever sure it may lack in some reagrds or AI may glitch out but at least you get a full game without having to ♥♥♥♥ out a bunch of money.

Edit: before the devs come at me like they did towards another review like this saying i havent played in a while well give me a reason to without having to spend another 30+ euros bud we get nothing new for owning the basic edition and then ill gladly recheck the game and test out as much as possible to giveyou guys another chance alright?

Edit 2.0 ♥♥♥♥ this game and the scumbag stduio that made it cash grabbing bastards cant even programm a garbage piece of ♥♥♥♥ software to work properly if in your game a leopard 2a6 shots 7 rounds of 120mm APFSDS into a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ BMP2 and noth9ing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ happens you need to resign as devs and delete your game simple as that, this is probably this biggest cash grab game i have seen in years and sadly gates of hell a game with much promise will have this stain of ♥♥♥♥ on it forever

in all honesty short simple review, game is fun has some neat aspects.
AI pathfinding is horribly bad and some of the missions seem way to far ahead of the resources they potenitally expect you to get, and well an autosave wouldve been nice since you can quick save but when one focuses on a mission you forget to quick save and then have to load a save from an hour ago if you get super unlucky. to make it simple the game is fun but has a decent amount of issues that ruin the fun

In all my time playing this game which has been quite a bit i can say that this game just has so many issues even beyond the horrible Matchmaking, dreadful uptiers, the never ending mind breaking Grind that never stops and so much more.
Is this game good IMO not really is it an authentic ww2 experience? Possibly design models and atmosphere are well crafted and look amazing yet gameplay at times seems to have been a lesser priority, considering alot of deaths caused by a still not optimized damage system or proper vehicle functions such as planes ships or tanks seemingly doing things they never could or were supposed to, of course its a game and suspension of disbelief as well "fair gameplay" should be focused more han realism sure thing but when the gap between realism and game is so big that i feel like its hurting more than helping.

Events: not really much to say for these except that they feel more aimed towards youtubers and people with either alot of free time or no life at all, as its relativly difficult to upkeep solid progression during one and achive your goals in said events.

Overall the Grind and unpolished nature of the combat and damage as well as the excessive need to go super modern combat just proved to not really be worth my time anymore and people who get into this game beware if you join in because you see all these fancy MBTs or LAVs or whatever modern vehicle keep in mind that unless you either buy a premium one or pay to speed past the insane grind for that type or get an event vehicle that is you will be playing for a long time to get your leopard or abrams or T-80 for everyone who enjoys WW2 youll be happy as up to 5.7 its focused on that but do not expect to only face ww2 tanks as after 5.7 your for example king tiger will face vietnam and cold war era tanks with better ammo and what not, be mindfull of this when getting this game and if you do get it good luck and dont go crazy ^^


Edit: After investing another 50+hours i can no longer recomend this game maybe in a year or two things will actually improve but not so far.

first off lemme say that this review will be neither negative or posotive (i just have to choose one cause of steam).
also despite my low playtime of 7 hours kinda goes back to the lack of content there currently is, its a fun game with three well made factions which all have their neat things to them that enhance the gameplay. Art style is very appealing to look at and done nicely, the campaign is interesting but wouldnt suprise me if for some players it becomes a bit to bland and well cliche.
Now do i support the price tag of 50 Euros? God no, at this current state that is way to high whilst i know that the game is quite new and more additions to it are to come the amount of content (only 3 factions around like 17 units, correct me if im wrong per factions is goodish but can and should be a bit more improved if possible, map variety is kinda lacking and so is the depth of gameplay its more or less just a simple blob em up unit slaughter game so far where the Blob beats tactics.
it also seems to be very straining for my pc when it comes to the city portions of the campaign now this could of course only be my fault with this issue but i feel some optimization is needed here and there.
overall id say if youre interested and want a game like COH but a bit different and the price Tag doesnt scare you away go for it there are way worse games you can spend money on so this wont be a regretful purchase nor was it one for me simply isnt justified to pay this much.

since they brought in the romans balancing is non existent i fight with tier 1 units vs tier 4 or higher like wtf should i dosecond of all since the update the has ♥♥♥♥♥♥ way more instable than before and also more laggy the game is an amazing mix ofmount and blade fighting and 3rd person strategy command games but sdly the giant balancing issue ruins almost all the fun still give the game a chance so u can see for your self

a very good and Working game but sadly due to poor hit detection and and sometimes serius Lag which are only the gameplay problems also it takes for ever to get knew guns i myself and i think many others like playing games for a long time and earning the weapons but i do not want to spend about 5-10 days saving up on money to buy a gun permanent i do know you can buy them for a limited time but then why bother with attachments secend of all i see a very heavy drift toward Pay 2 Win with some of the gun you can either only get buy paying real money or playing for 10 days strait overall i would say give this game a chance but keep these facts in mind while playing it is a very fun game with alot of variety in game modes
