You see, I wish steam had a mid-line recommendation.
There are many good things are there are many bad things. Then again, you'll only like the game if you like what it serves.

This Review contains basically the premise of Moonlighter, not the ending but mostly what this game contains

(Also, at the time of writing this, this game is free from the Epic Games Store. I just found out after having 10 hours of gameplay. So, make sure to check out the Epic Games Store first to see if it's still free so you don't end up wasting money)

This game contains:
  • Different difficulties
  • Kinda of hard combat (Mostly because of how wonky it is)
  • A lot of grinding
  • A pretty good plot
  • Great graphics
  • Somewhat okay movement
  • Inventory management
  • And a lot of trial-and-error

-------------------------------------------------DIFFICULTY---------------------------------------

The game gives you 4 difficulties
Easy, Normal, Hard, and Expert (I think it's called expert)
Easy is for those who don't like any challenge
Normal is for new comers who are there for the plot and those who don't like a game being difficult
Hard is for those who like the a challenge
And Expert is just harder than hard. It's difficult and it will kick your butt.

----------------------------------------A Watered Version of The Plot-----------------------

==============MILD SPOILERS=============

(This is a basic plot and is practically explained in the description of the game)

In this game there's Merchants and Heroes.
Merchants sell good they find in the dungeon
and Heroes try to slay the beast within the dungeon

You play as a young man named Will. He's a merchant and wants to be a hero. An old man, named Zenon, takes care of Will and tells him to run his family's shop.
Each dungeon has a different culture.
Golem (which is basically rocks), Forest, Desert, and Techno.

Will goes into the dungeons and sees there is a hidden secret to them. A door in front of all the dungeons needs 4 keys to unlock. These keys are found in each dungeon guarded by a beast.

And so Will goes on his journey to run a family business and to discover the truth of the dungeons.

-------------------------------SELLING MECHANIC------------------------------
The game has a system where you can sell items that you will find in the dungeons.
You can sell the items at any price but there's a catch.
When selling items, you don't know the best price. The best price is where the customer likes the price but it also makes you the best profit.
It takes trial-and-error to find the best price. But with each item you sell it may either
A: Have a person buy because of how cheap,
or B: The person doesn't like the price and walks away from it.
It's a good design, but I wish the developers had a way to give us a hint.

The notebook you carry will have every item you collected listed in it and will give you a rough estimate of the price of the item. However, it's usually under-prices the item.
The notebook also keeps track of the reactions of the prices for each item, and upon re-selling the item you don't have to keep putting the price on said item.

--------------------------------ITEM/INVENTORY MANAGEMENT-------------

In this game, you go into dungeons, defeat enemies and loot as much as you can.
You get a backpack that can store 15 different item stacks and you as the player has 5 slots, totaling to 20 slots.
However, the items you pick up will stack at either 10 or 5 (depending on the item rarity).
There's also special items that can only be found in chest that have certain attributes known as curse.

These curses include:
  • Having to be placed in a specific location in your inventory
  • Destroying an item upon returning home
  • Destroying an item's curse
  • Sending a item back home in a chest
  • Transforming an item to replicate the cursed item upon returning home
  • The cursed item being destroyed upon receiving a certain number of hits (I don't know the exact amount)

These curse item will not stack with the same item that isn't cursed. With the limited amount of inventory, you have to really manage it well. The thing is there is no upgrade to increase the amount of space in your inventory, which sucks, a lot.
Granted, there is secret rooms in this game, 5 I believe, one of them is a chest and upon putting any item in the chest will send every item inside back to your house. But it has a 1/5 chance of appearing and every floor of a dungeon will have only one secret room.

-------------------------------------------GRINDING-------------------------------

Grinding in this game is very tedious. It's basically the same thing over and over again with the only gain being more items. There are a wide variety of enemies to face each having their own attack. As you progress through the game, you'll get better items and better gear to help you survive in harder dungeons.

But, it's the same thing over and over again, the only reward being more money to get better gear.
The only changes you'll see is the dungeon's culture, the items you find, and the enemies you face.
And that's the what you'll be mostly doing besides selling items.

---------------------------------MOVEMENT/COMBAT-------------------------------------

The combat is much different from the movement.
Movement wise you get a run and a dodge-roll.

A run is a run and you can run indefinitely. Some equipment however can slow your movement speed.
Your dodge-roll is like any dodge-roll. When dodging, you are briefly invincible, so you can dodge enemy projectiles.
You can even dodge through enemies.
What makes moving different from combat is that you can run and dodge in any direction,
(Compass Example: N. NW. S. SE.)
while you can only attack in the 4 cardinal directions.
This makes some weapons a little hard to hit the enemy.

If you like:
Repetitious gameplay,
Grinding,
Rouge-Lites,
Trial-and Error,
And a half way decent plot,
This game is perfect for you!

If not, then at least get the free copy at Epic Games Store.

And that's pretty much it. If this game gets a complete overhaul (even tho it won't), I'll probably not update this.
