This is what Overwatch 1 tried to be, something casual but with a competitive aspect for those specific people. Competitive is more or less balanced with requirements of having enough characters learned being at least lvl 15 for each character, also picks bans are a thing (which is amazing). This game gets a lot of hate for how these characters are balanced, but when everyone is over powered its balanced. Learning the characters is essential if you want to take this game serious with understanding the Rock/Paper/Scissors aspect of countering heroes. Quick Play is for casual and learning/lvling those new heroes.

Game is Great, Iove the complexity of builds characters can have depending on the maps, and nauts on each team. However Since the game no longer receives updates anymore there are still interactions in the game that make it very difficult to play around. Time slows affect both your movement and ability cool downs, and punish severely on every naut. Id say this is the strongest ability in the game. Other than this, the game is extremely fun and still after a raging the day before I come back to this game. I doubt there will be a similar game like this one in the future.
