It's not a complicated game, but it is a lot of fun, especially with a friend.

OK, now that I have over 600 hours in the game, I feel I can give an honest review, with no biases either direction.

First, the Devs are great. I have never played a single game that had weekly updates to fix bugs, improve content, and add new content.

Second, there are a lot of paid DLCs, but that isn't a problem, because you don't need to have them to have fun with this game. Honestly, the only two DLCs you should get if you can, are Styx and New Frontiers. Both add new maps, so it's worth it. The rest, just buy them if and when you decide they are something you want, but you do not need them to enjoy the game and feel you got your money's worth.

All 3 of the maps are fun and immersive. However, if you only have money to buy one DLC, I would buy New Frontiers. Why? Because Olympus basically looks like Earth...maybe because the terraforming worked well there, and Styx looks quite similar, from what I've seen in my limited play time. Prometheus, which is the new map in New Frontiers, looks much more alien, and unique compared to the other two maps.

Building is fun, and you have several materials to choose from, but there are still a couple of bugs associated with this, but it may only be on dedicated open world servers that you experience these bugs. I did notice that while playing Styx on local, it was flawless, with no bugs experienced in my limited play time. Two different server hosts have given me a few mildly irritating, but not game killing bugs. The only real issue with building is the lack of angled and curved foundations and walls, which limits your creativity when building, though some players have found work arounds to create amazingly beautiful structures. The point here is that the building options are a bit thing, but what's there is awesome.

There are animals, and a few of them you can tame, but this is not ARK, or Red Dead Redemption 2. They are good, but not quite on that level, and there is no breeding. You are cautioned not to have too many mounts, and for good reason. They eat and drink from troughs, and can get hung up, experience pathing issues, and end up with zero'd water and food bars. The good news is that the Devs make up for that by not making the animals die as a result of this. So when you find this has happened, you can remedy it very easily. Often just moving the animal allows it to see the troughs and go to them, but you can also hand feed and water them.

The models are pretty good, and animations are decent, but again, don't expect Red Dead Redemption 2 here. But then, RDR2 took 10 years to make, so...

The RPG elements of leveling up your mounts is pretty good.

With enough playing time, you can level a character up to be able to make everything in the game, so that's cool. The other tree, the talent tree, however, will leave you wanting. There are a lot of talents to give, but I'm not a huge fan of that tree, and you top out at something like 30, when playing co-op, which will leave you wanting more points. There are mods, if that's a real issue for you.

The exploration is a lot of fun, and you have to go out and search for the caves to get anywhere in the game.

You have two modes, the missions, which is what the game was designed to offer. This makes the game similar to any survival game, combined with something like Hell Divers. You will go to the planet with nothing, and have to build up quickly to get what you need to complete your mission. Not to worry though, just build a character up, and this isn't an issue after that. I went to Styx with a leveled up character, and in one day, had the top tier crafting stations. If playing with a crew, it would have happened even faster. So those who love the process of going from nothing, to having what you need in a survival game, this one is for you.

Nearly every creature can be mounted as a trophy, once killed. A couple are missing the vestige to do this, but I'm sure the will get around to them soon. There's a mix of animals imported from Earth, mutants, and species native to Icarus. They can be a bit braindead, and predictable, but the Dracs on Prometheus do like to surround you, and only creep up on you when you aren't looking. Look at one, and he stops, but his buddies behind and beside you will creep up on you, and charge once close enough. I would like to see this aspect enhanced and improved upon.

There's also fishing in the game, with many different fish to catch. Different Lures offer different abilities when fishing. Each body of water has different combinations of fish, and different unique and rare fish to catch, and mount on the wall.

There are many different food recipes, and tonics that allow different ability enhancements. This is literally the key to the game. Some items to do a recipe can be found planetside, and some have to be purchased with seeds from the space station, and then grown in the farming system. Combining some of these foods can really boost key abilities, so if you like that, you will love this game.

The story is pretty cool, so far, and as I understand it, they are working on improving this aspect of the game, adding more POI's, etc.

Having things delivered from the station is vial a tiny rocket delivery vehicle that would put a smile on Elon Musk's face. On the dedicated servers, some of the visual and audio aspects of this can bug out, but when it's working, it's really really cool. Again, my experience so far is that there are the occasional non-game killing bugs when playing on a dedicated server, but when playing on local, everything worked perfectly...not a single little bug or issue.

There's more, but you get the idea. If you like survival games, and want to try one that's different, this one will put a smile on your face, IMHO.

Great game for the zombies, motorcycles, action when taking on hordes, and the story & characters. Ignore the reviews from when the game came out, which was influenced by the bugs at the time. This game will especially appeal to those who liked the Mad Max game. If I had to describe the game, I would say it's very similar to Mad Max with a dash of RDR2, especially the setting, being Oregon gives it an RDR2 on motorcycles vibe to it.

You ride a motorcycle, kill random solo and small groups of zombies, do quests for a handful of survivor camps & a government scientist, fight groups of bad guys, gather resources that you trade to the camps, and take on various sizes of hordes, from 25 to 500 zombies, which other zombies will join as you fight them. One thing to note...the zombies are fast. More like a cross between zombies and mutants.

The graphics are good. I'm playing with RTX and HDR.

The puzzles are fun. Make sure you complete everything in the Tombs before leaving, because you can't return. This, IMHO is the worst part about the game. Why? Because it forces me to use Wiki's, map reveals and videos, to verify I know what's there. I would prefer to be able to return, to get what I missed the first time. Even just a couple of campsites inside the tomb would be helpful.

Woke is present but minimal, thankfully.

Campaign is bugged. It allows you into 3 of the Beacons, outside of the mission...before the mission highlights them yellow. Thus, if you go into them early, and retrieve the data of just one of the 3 it allows you into, you will not be able to clear all 4 Beacons in the mission. When interacting with the Spire, it does not check to see if you have all 4 data...no...it checks to see if you cleared the Beacons, but you can't clear the Beacons if you already have the data, because the data pads are now inactive.

How hard was it to put locked doors on those 3 Beacons, until you are in the mission, and then unlock them when the Beacons highlight yellow on the map?

So I went ahead and uninstalled the game. No point in keeping it in the library. I don't play PvP because there are too many cheaters. I just wanted to play a good campaign. This wasn't much of a campaign, but I did want to at least finish it. I suppose I will watch a YouTube video to see what happens.

Have not made it to Mass Effect 2, yet, but ME1 is everything you always wanted it to be. If you loved the original, you will love this even more! In my opinion, you won't regret purchasing it.

With so many crappy games coming out recently, how can you go wrong with a Remade/Remastered epic game?

Too much cheating in this game. And of course, the Anti-Cheat does nothing to fix the problem.

I'll change this review when the Devs give the Admins better tools to work with, that will actually help them spot the cheaters better.
