A charming and relaxing puzzle game. I saw this originally described as a city builder, but it isn't that. It's more of a puzzle game, where you figure out the right placement for your buildings in order to maximize the amount of points you earn with as few moves as possible. This is a very relaxing gameplay mechanic and there's no time pressure, so you can calmly figure out what's your best next move.

The graphics are simple but charming and everything is clean as can be, though sometimes you might find yourself unable to build on one terrain type, while another seemingly similar type does allow for a build, which could use better indicators.

The music is perfectly fitting for the game. It's relaxing, happy background music. Nothing groundbreaking but it just works right for the game.

My one request for this game would be an "endless" mode where you start with unlimited amounts of all buildings and can just build your own paradise the way you want it. But the devs have just released the game and it's a small team, so who knows what time will bring.

Especially for it's low price, well worth picking up.

Eastshade is going to be one of the prettiest games of 2019, that's for sure. It's a lovely experience, wandering through a beautifully animated countryside and city, meeting a colourful cast of animal-people, doing typical RPG fetch quests, and instead of killing stuff, you paint it.

THE GOOD:
- Amazing landscapes. Every corner you turn, you'll find yourself marvelling at the various vistas on offer. There is enough variation within the world to keep you surprised, even though the world isn't all that big.
- Imaginative architecture. The buildings you'll find could fit in the real world, but have just enough of a fantasy twist to have that otherworldly 'wow' to them.
- Very relaxing gameplay. There is no hurry. Just go out, enjoy yourself, pick up quests and help people wherever you want.
- The painting system. It's like taking screenshots within the game, and you can easily create some masterpieces.
- The NPC's as characters. Every person you meet is very charming in their own right, having their own interests and desires.
- The music. It reminds me of Morrowind/Oblivion (A comparison you'll often find in the reviews) albeit less bombastic. It helps keeping the game as relaxed as it is.
- Dev support. At the point of writing this review, the devs do seem to be very busy updating the game to patch out the few issues still present.

THE NEUTRAL:
- There are no map markers. Even to get a map you have to do a sidequest, and then you're left on your own from there on. To some, this may be detrimental, I just wish that on the map there's an indicator of which direction you're facing.
- The crafting system is simple but with the cluttered inventory, it can be a bit obnoxious.
- The voice acting is clearly not done by a pro team. This does lend it's own charm to the characters, but some may find it grating.
- The animal characters can be a bit uncanny valley at times. Especially the owl folk. But charming as they are, I don't consider this a negative.

THE BAD:
- The game does have some technical issues. Framerate drops and crashes are present, and sometimes you'll be greeted with long loading times.
- Invisible barriers are very much a thing. You can't Skyrim your way through the world. Probably done to prevent sequence breaking and you're a painter, not an adventurer, so it makes sense, but it could've been done a bit more elegantly.
- Textures don't always work together with others. You'll find some plants sticking out through a bridge, or the tiles of a cobble road suddenly cut off by a dirt road, all in ways that you'll know is not intentional. Fortunately, it's small enough that it's not a nuisance to the bigger picture (hah) of the landscapes themselves.

All in all, for the price it asks, you're going to get a lovely relaxing experience, to be able to lose yourself in a fantasy world where for once it's not about killing and survival, but about painting, trading and helping people. If the devs can buff out those framerate and crash issues it'll be even better, for now I'd give it a solid 8/10.

Fun game. Probably the best top-down 2D racer available right now with a price that's right for the product offered. It features a plethora of tracks in various styles, most of which are knockoffs of real tracks (As in, you can see which track they represent but they really aren't) and the same goes for the 10 teams involved which are expies of the F1 teams.

One shining point of this game to me is the AI. In races with tire wear, they employ various strategies. Some will make more pitstops than others, and the timing will change as well. Furthermore, the AI actively fights itself, it's not "All gang up on the human player" which is a big plus.

There are also various race disciplines. Some are a joke, but most actively feel different from the others. Especially oval dirtbike racing is a lot of unexpected fun.

It's a fun timekiller. I should note that my hours in the game are bloated due to me leaving it on in the background so I don't have to restart the game when I want to have a quick race or two, but I do have at least 6 hours in it now proper and I haven't regretted it one moment.

I am saddened to have to say: This is a crap port. One of my all-time favorite games nuked by a port that causes plenty of issues. Controller support? Nope. 60 FPS? Nah. High resolutions? 1600x900 max. And that's just the start.

The screens look rather choppy, the motions are sickness-inducing, and I ran into a rather odd problem where the game disconnects my mouse - this appears to be unique to this game as no others have given me this issue. The control setup also feels weird.

In the end, I fear a lot of the highly positive reviews are based on the game that Okami WAS for the PS2 and Wii, and not for what this particular port IS.

Caution: While my end result is that I do recommend the game, I do not heavily recommend it like I would with snap-buy titles.
I've enjoyed Shantae throughout the years. Pirate's Curse is, to me, the best game of the series and sadly, Half-Genie Hero does not surpass that game's level. It has too many flaws for that.
For one, the past games had a sense of exploration. Big worlds which you'd discover all kinds of new things in when going through them later on, metroidvania style. Half-Genie Hero...tries to have that, but the worlds are just so tiny. There's a feeling that there should be more, but there simply isn't.
The end-game also has a very strong "Collect 10 Bear Asses" feel to it. Just padding to make the game last a bit longer for those who want to get the proper ending. While it is a tradition for Shantae games to do something like that, it never felt as obvious as it does here.
Then there's the various forms you can take. Some just feel a bit tacked on, like the Spider form which you need only for one little thing, and is never needed again except for an achievement. The Crab form also feels redundant with the Mermaid form around, with only a very few small things ensuring you must use it.
Finally, the game is on the short side. 7.5 hours for 100% completion without actually rushing through the game...it's not horribly short, but I had hoped for longer.
Having said that, these aren't huge problems. The gameplay itself is smooth as ever, perhaps even smoother than before. The flow of most of the game is perfect, the enemies are nice and varied, the level design itself, while small, is very well done, so gameplay wise there's nothing really wrong with the game.
The graphics are also top notch. A lot of work has gone into the animation and it shows, the game looks fabulous. The music also helps, the ever-present ear worms keep up a great tone.
Finally, the absurd and hilarious conversations are, as ever, another highlight of the game. It does refer it's predecessors a fair bit which might be annoying if this is your first Shantae, but even for those people there's plenty of good humor to go around.
All in all, I think that this game's biggest problem is the existence of Pirate's Curse. That game set a very high bar that Half-Genie Hero falls just short of. I definitely do not regret the purchase, I had just hoped for a bit more after the kickstarter and the various postponings. The game is technically very well done, it just lacks that bit of punch.
7/10.

Pro's:
+ Amazing story
+ Beautiful visuals
+ Good music
+ Both hilarious and badass characters
+ Very faithful to the graphic novel

Cons:
- Quality dips a bit in episode 2
- Voice acting sounds a bit forced at times
- Takes a bit to get going

I like this game. It's not the longest and you probably won't have a huge urge to replay it just to see the effects of various choices, but for the price of the total 5 seasons you get a good game with an engaging story, fun characters and their interactions that you won't soon forget. While the ending is a bit weird and cliffhanger-y, the rest just works very well.
The game is divided in 5 episodes, of which episode 2 is by far the worst, in my opinion. At the end of episode 3 things start picking up very fast and you'll be on the edge of your seat until the end. So if you do feel a bit down on the game at that point, push through, you won't regret it. Definitely worth a purchase if you prefer a good story over fast-paced gameplay.

This is exactly the kind of game why Steam needs an in between option for their reviews. Anno 2205 is a game with huge ups and massive downs, and to me, neither really outweigh the other.
The biggest mistake to make is going into this game and expecting it to be "The next Anno game". It simply changed it's formula too much for that, though some base elements are definitely still there. So let's divide up the good and the bad, from my personal point of view.
The Good:
+ The game looks fabulous. No ifs and buts about it, even on my mediocre system it looks stunning.
+ Building feels more free. While some may call the lack of min-maxing a down, I like having some freedom in my citybuilders.
+ Easier to see how much is produced by your buildings. They do take it a bit too far, you don't need to keep an eye on your storage anymore just on how much is coming in, but I like that buildings now tell you how much of other resources they need.
+ HUGE areas to build on. 2070's islands were just too small, sadly.
+ The moon...oh god the moon. Beautiful.
+ The music is amazing. It doesn't take over the game, it's just there and works perfectly, sticking in your mind for hours afterwards.
+ Ability to move built buildings. No more misclick -> Having to demolish and rebuild a tile away.
The Bad:
- No "skirmish" mode. Every game is a full campaign, along the same maps, and they all start you out on a small island before you can expand.
- Lack of diplomacy. There's just no real reason to keep up good relationships with the other companies.
- No real trade. Yes, you can trade between your sectors and you have to do so, but you don't build a fleet for this, it just happens by just setting them on the overview screen. Trade with other companies? Nope.
- Lack of an own fleet. I like building my own fleet and taking it to war when needed. Here I'm restricted by how big my company is. Not a fan.
- War missions. They're on the same few maps and quite repetitive, with dull sidequests. Fun the first three times, but then quickly loses it's luster.
- No Multiplayer. I also can't see how they'll implement this ever, given the way the various regions work.
- Could do with some optimalization. A driver update helped, but I hope they'll go the extra mile here.

All in all, am I disappointed? Not really...I'm just not exactly thrilled either. I'm giving this a very cautious thumbs up and hope they'll implement a few good changes in the near future. If this all looks too negative to you, don't buy it. If you think you can handle the extremely streamlined experience 2205 offers and like the idea of replaying a campaign constantly, go right ahead.

If you love platformers and cute styled games, this is the game for you. It's that simple. It can at certain points be hard, yes, but that's hardly a downside.

If you are looking for a deep management game, this is not it.
If you are looking for an intricate transport tycoon follow up game, this is not it.
If you are looking for fancy graphics, this is not it.
However, if you are looking for a fun puzzler that'll keep you on your toes with reasonable pressure, simple and clean presentation, easy to grasp concept and lots of replayability, this is one of the best games you can get. And if you don't want to be pressurized by the game, you can play the Zen mode, which is a great relaxing timewaster. Simple, clean, intuitive, it's a great way to waste a few hours without even realizing said hours are gone. Bonus points if you are a fan of metro systems, but that isn't required to enjoy this game.
Special props to the devs, who are on top of the community and communicate with their customers a lot during the current stage of the game.
