Wonderful JRPG with a boat load of content. For perspective, I have beat the main story with a significant amount of side content completed but have not beat everything yet. Not a spoiler, but after you beat the final boss the game gives you a "completed" badge on your save and starts you back from right before the fight so you can go finish up more content—auto saves and battle retry system are generous so no need to worry about saving every few minutes.

Characters are interesting and the class/ability/combat system is clean and enjoyable. Abilities do what they say and everyone has a role to play on the team. As a big Final Fantasy fan, I'd compare the class system to something like IV or X with characters having set abilities that fit within roles but have some flexibility. There is a "skill tree-ish"/build system but I found it doesn't matter too much since you will unlock most of it for each character even doing the bare minimum to beat the game. Also, leveling doesn't work in the classic sense like you might expect, but it's shared for all characters and it pretty much guarantees that you won't be under powered for any given part of the story.

Game is paced very well. You get a bit of story exposition here and there but unlike some JRPGs you actually get to play the game right from the start and consistently throughout. You have plenty of options early on with most of the game and systems available prior to the halfway point where it opens up even more and you have the opportunity to really customize your team and play style. Tons of opportunities for exploration and a very large world that lets you go pretty much anywhere around half-way through as well.

Story is pretty decent though there are quite a few twists that begin to feel a little forced after a while. It's definitely a JRPG, so you're in the wrong place if you're expecting a literary masterpiece. That said, it wraps up well and the characters are fairly fleshed out. Not too generic or campy and a lot of thought and effort clearly went into building the world.

If you like turn based JRPGs along the lines of Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, or Chrono Trigger, then I would absolutely recommend at full price. You can tell the developers were serious about making a very good game and it's totally worth supporting developers who make games like this.

Wonderful game. Love FFV and RPGs with in-depth class systems and Crystal Project did not disappoint. Not super easy either, actually had to put some time in to do well. Tons of content, haven't even finished all of the optional stuff at the time of writing.

You can absolutely get many hours out of this game and enjoy them, but beating the main story is miserable.

Story isn't bad and characters (aside from Noct most of the game, but common for FF protagonists) are very fun and well designed. Road trip romping around, etc. is really nice. XV does a great job on the adventure side of things.

Combat and camera are awful, however. Clunky, not intuitive system. Plenty of great action RPGs/brawlers, etc. out there, so it is amazing that they came up with combat this bad. Boss fights are terribly bullet/sword spongey (not to mention annoying. FF boss gimmicks are nothing new, but these are simply frustrating and really just not fun), dodging mechanic does not work consistently or smoothly, and overall I found myself skipping fights toward the end as much as possible. Moreover, the "open world" feels like a Ubisoft open world which some might enjoy, but I have never been a fan of--take of that what you will.

I love Final Fantasy games and enjoy the differences in combat and gameplay through the mainline games, but XV is something that could be a really enjoyable experience marred by absolutely annoying gameplay and mechanics. For me, this is the least enjoyable FF game by far.

Got 6 hours of playtime by leaving launcher open accidentally

It's a good version of FFIV as long as you get the 25fps battle mod hich is easy enough to install

A lot of fun. Definitely not the same level of depth/customization as you would get from a whole XCOM game, but a really enjoyable so far. As of 10 hours in, I still have quite a bit of progress the make to finish the main campaign. Definitely takes advantage of some of the zany/pure fun aspects of War of the Chosen to make it feel more like you're controlling a comib-book super squad rather than a simple XCOM force.

The macro-game outside of individual encounters is the only thing lacking, but I feel like the encounters themselves are more enjoyable than vanilla XCOM. Breaches give a unique way of starting every mission and add a little bit of tactical flavor on top of the normal encounter structure. They are not a major game changer, but definitely a welcome addition. Hopefully this is something that will be expanded upon in future XCOM games.

Overall, if you're hungry for more XCOM/polished turn-based tactical gameplay, Chimera Squad is certainly worth picking up at $20.
