Would be a good game if matchmaking wasn't downright evil and the spawn system wasn't a direct port of the ancient MW2 system. Will update if it gets better, it probably won't

There is a good game here, but to find it you have to scroll through netflix for some reason; use arcane techniques to add friends and hopefully get into a lobby with them, make a loadout without the gunsmith glitching (you'll have to do this a lot if an update wipes your loadouts), and then get into a game without half the lobby instantly quitting as soon as one team starts winning.

UI is bad, UX is bad, QA is bad, devs encourage bad practices, the players rage quit like nothing else matters.

UPDATE: The game never got any better. I spit on Activision.

I'm playing this for the first time in 2020, so I guess I missed out on the rougher early days of this game- but as of right now, it's just fantastic. I went from Reflex to All Out, and I wasn't sure about it because everyone seems to like Reflex more, but the dirtbike physics in All Out are just incredible.

I went from racing at max difficulty on Reflex, to Medium difficulty on All Out. This isn't because the AI is faster, it's because I was slower. I had to actually put in effort to learn the physics and mechanics of dirtbike racing in this game. All you had to do in Reflex was find a line and rhythm. In All Out you really have to lean, clutch kick, scrub, and be picky with preloads in order to be fast- and it is so rewarding to learn.

I'm no MX scholar, but the physics in All Out are the best they've been in the series as far as I can tell. The whips, the scrubs, even the simulated water tension when you speed over a lake- It's just a joy to freeride or race.

If I have to pick cons for the game, I'd say I don't like how free the physics are in UTVs, it's honestly a goofy amount of air control- and as far as I can tell there aren't more vehicles than MX, ATV, UTV. I miss Trophy Trucks, those were the one thing Reflex did right compared to this game, I think.

Version 2 of review, post-FFB update:

They've finally pushed an update for FFB, and while it isn't an absolute saving grace, it does put the FFB into "Acceptable" territory. It's still not great, but I am actually able to enjoy driving now.

The game still has some performance issues depending on rig and settings, but if you get your settings just right, you can have legitimate fun with DR:2.0 now.

Codies has stated they will continue to work on FFB, and now that they've proven they can address it, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for a while longer.

I will say that I recommend the game now, but it's not for everyone.
