Really enjoyable old-school shooter. The fun really kicks in when you try to get gold medals and you start seeing all of the ways the levels are laid out to help you get through them in a fast and deadly manner. Wish this game got a little bit more recognition, it's a gem for anyone that appreciates this style.

A marked improvement on the original with tons of little Quality of Life improvements that some people might not have found yet. You can quick-winch to objects by tapping your winch-pull button twice, AND YOU CAN FINALLY REFUEL YOUR OWN TRUCK WITH ITS OWN CISTERN!

Overall, this game on day 0 is already overall better than PCars 1 at the end of its dev cycle. FFB is improved greatly out of the box, but does lack some weight transfer/understeer communication on my rig. This is something that I will have to custom tailor to my own tastes.

AI is a lot better already- They'll lunge you without doing suicidal divebombs and will adjust their cornering to act defensively. The engine sounds have a lot more depth and bite than PCars 1, and the drivetrain sounds are completely independent of the engine, which is a nice touch. Tire squealing is a bit more shrill than it ought to be IMO but can be mixed down.

The pit lane notification is definitely still too wide on the track. I have noticed an audio stutter with the M3 GT3 engine (may just be my dumb Razer headphones), and on this race the entire field pitted a lap before my chief told me "There might be rain". So, there are faults, but nothing that can't be ironed out easily with some simple code and a patch.

All of the race options and multi-class racing are great. You can race a laser-scanned Nordschleife in rally cars in the snow, ffs.

If you liked PCars 1 at all- this is a buy. If you're on the fence about the series, maybe wait til some of the annoying day 1 bugs get sorted out and this gem will shine.

Fairly steep learning curve if you're new to aviation, but if you've got some helicopter experience it will be a great new challenge. I think a lot of the bugs people have mentioned have been ironed out by now because I didn't see many. There were only one or two spawn checkpoints that were bugged but everything else ran great. The actual racing is very challenging and the free roam is really fun. I don't think there is anything else on the market that fills the drone racing niche better than this title.

If you like to fly, you will have fun with this.

That Bi-plane flying at night with no lights is SOOOOO illegal.

That being said- This game is a type of relaxation that you don't find anywhere outside of either the genre, or actually being on the road. I don't have a lot of experience in the genre outside of the old Hard Truck, and more recently Spintires- but this game looks, feels, and runs great. I'm of course hoping and waiting for more states to drive through in the future, but these ones haven't felt repetitive at all with how much detail they've put into different locales.

My biggest complaint is not with the game, but the state of California (As if I needed more reasons to hate it). The truck speed limit of 55mph needs to be abolished in-game and real life.

It is. Just buy it and enjoy your time in the taiga.

If you, like myself, saw some gameplay of Avorion and thought, "This looks right up my alley." - It is.

As an ex EVE player and current X3 player, this game scratches so many itches that I still had regarding space sims. It manages to have almost all of the depth of X3 while being more engaging and giving you more control. The ship building is very reminiscent of EVE as well (but without too much of the rock-paper-scissors required for PvP).

The open world is a great mix of busy sectors full of trading posts and freighters, peaceful (and large!) asteroid fields, and the occasional barron sector to really make you feel the enormity of the galaxy. Oh and scrapyards!

Let me tell you about the scrapyards a bit, because this is a really distinguishing feature (if a great open-world space sim where you build your ships from scratch isn't enough to get you going). There are scrapyards filled with HUNDREDS of dead ships just floating around. You can pay a fee to work the scrap and go to town with your salvage beams. This is one of the best parts about the voxelish physics engine in space. You can scan down dead ships to find the ones that have more valuable materials in them, and if you're an especially clever person, you'll chop off the command section of the ship that has the good components and watch it float away from the cargo section, for example. Then you can salvage the specific bits that have what you want, and also occasionally get some parts or cargo from the ships. It's fun as heck.

All in all, this game has the depth you would expect of a game that is so heavily influenced by X3 and EVE, but is at the same time largely more accessible. It is a perfect blend of features of my favorite space sims, with the addition of a deep ship building mechanism and great physics-based features that come from that.

Here's how this rates for me:

Better than TF2 and Overwatch because more tacticool and way lower Time-To-Kill. The userbase has been less cancerous than most I've seen, which is surprising because it's f2p and I come from a counter-strike background. This is my go-to team shooter right now.
