After being talked at for an hour and a half which is all unskip-able and being yelled at for just existing apparently I stopped playing. Could this game be good? Maybe? But I'm unwilling to listen to any more poor voice acting and even worse dialogue than that. All of the good faith the Metro series has built with me is gone and I won't be giving it another chance. I was literally mashing my keyboard in frustration because I just wanted to play the D*** game.

This is a smorgishborg of game genres like a Fallout Shelter / breeding / deck building but the devs made a bunch of asinine design choices in the game that just made it feel eh. The art is interesting and the animations aren't bad but you're only allowed to choose one path and at the end of every match it shows what you missed on the other path like 4/6 fights, 3/3 treasures, and 3/4 resources. WHY? Why are you showing me what I missed like I had the option to complete it? You can't go back and forth only forward even if you clear anything. Why? There are merchants and upgrade smiths on the paths you can take but it takes gold to upgrade items and you can't bring gold with you on a run. So depending on your RNG for gold if you don't have any (like me my first time going to the blacksmith) you can't even use the blacksmith to upgrade anything. Next is the merchant same thing, sure you can sell any junk you have on you to buy something like an upgrade orb for your weapon but you don't know how to equip them and if you don't use it that run its just gone. So the item I bought for over 100 gold I didn't even get to use. Then you get pieces of meat which (Meat = health potions), but you have to use them during that run and aren't told this. Lastly your loot doesn't auto stack to maximum in your lair for . . . some reason? It stacks to 20 of any particular resource but when you get them sometimes you'll just have three stacks of 12 or 8 and 7 or whatever IDK why. That was a little nitpicky but you get the jist.

I think this game is interesting and has the potential to be pretty great but it is really held back weird choices by the devs in my opinion. I wouldn't recommend it right now.

Has a challenging puzzle not really meant for pc's in the beginning but immediately killed for no reason and now I'm deaf from the bad jump scare. For the love of god balance the audio so no one else's eardrums rupture from trying to play your game.

Hello? "This is the third time you have asked this question into the walkie talkie as blissful static answers back" Oh god, they're all dead! "You turn to a strange noise behind as spider like arms wrap around your larynx." Shh Shh its all over now.

Pros -
I haven't had any issues with the game tech wise.

Graphics are good

Sounds great

Combat is fun and can go deadly in about 1.2 seconds, especially if they swarm with runners.

The crafting system is simple and useful.

The progress tree is amazing one of the best I've seen in a rouge like in a while. You can really tell the difference after each run.

A-lot of different guns and they all feel different. Definitely brings back the old school Last Stand vibes with them.

Cons -
Price - currently can't say this is worth their asking price of 24.99$

You can randomly get stuck on debris that doesn't even look like it is in the game.

Too many fences or half walls that for some reason your character can't jump over, irritating to the max.

You can't jump up into open windows unless they're ground level. . . . . What?

The dialogue choices are absolutely terrible. Clunky and sounds like a middle schooler wrote them. Honestly they should just patch the entire thing out or make a cut scene that you can skip.

You can't move the camera yourself. This drives me absolutely insane, how isn't this a feature? For a top down shooter its crazy not being able to control that.

Zombies have invincibility when they fall over you literally have to wait till they get up. There is a execute but unless you knocked them down yourself you can't active it ,and you have to use a button combination instead of just using the attack button again. It should just be that.

The melee needs some work I used mouse & keyboard and controller it is incredibly easy to miss a zombie right in front of you.

Shooting is rough the dot you use to aim is about 5 feet from your character so any long shots are almost impossible to hit since it is incredibly hard to tell where exactly your character is aiming at.

Closing Statement

This game doesn't feel like any of the last stand games I played in high school. Its a top down shooter that's pretty good in its own right but suffers from bad dialogue and a few asinine development choices.

Feels like a 12-15$ game that needs a patch or two to fix some issues with the current gameplay.

Definitely a game that should be in your library though, highly recommend just waiting till its on sale. I bought it at 66% off at something like 4-5$ and at that price it's a steal.

Free to play and better than most of the 20$ survival games out there. It's super fun with friends and still good on your lonesome. It is not polished but you can't hold it against the game or developer. I mean he's Canadian or something.

60$ game that I bought because of the xbox-360 version and it has been a complete let down. All the animations are the same and every level is a basic rinse and repeat. Now, to get more than a basic carnivore or a herbivore you have to pay for DLC.
If you want a half made game that requires DLC to be bought for what should have been in the initial release go ahead and buy the game, because you sir are a masochist.

It's getting dark in here so light all the your torches. I don't want it to get tooo dark. Monsters are scary so cast a spell. I named my abomination Covid.

Now read that with the song "its getting hot in here," in your head.
