Even though this game is currently in a Pre-Alpha state (meaning it's still under development), I feel Star Citizen is definitely Showcase worthy!

Star Citizen, being the first, and largest, Crowd-funded project, takes you on an epic adventure that is all produced by you, the player! You play as your own character that you design, and peruse whatever adventure you wish to take, whether or not it's military, mercenary, piracy, trading, mining, medical corps. The Sky is the limit! All you need to play the game is to purchase a starter pack from their website, costing minimum of $45, and you have full access to the persistent universe (The online multiplayer portion of the game). For a little bit more, you can purchase your starter pack and access to the single player offline campaign, Squadron 42!
