Recommended because The Finals is another game...

  • ...with an absolutely trash, garbage, and rubbish tier matchmaker in any mode. Don't worry, you're not the problem for sure. The Finals can be very infuriating experience for solo queue.
  • ...with a ton of exploits to abuse.
  • ...with questionable balance of the three archetypes (Light, Medium, and Heavy).
  • ...with a Battle Pass. Grinders rejoice!
  • ...with Quests, Limited Time Events, and other exclusive rewards preying on FOMO. You know you got to have that digital colorway for a real basic t-shirt offered only once! Supreme!
  • ...with per-patch degrading client and server performance contributing to terrible hitreg and peaker advantages.
  • ...which is a live service game.
  • ...which does not care about cheating. Go to town!
  • ...which your friends avoid because [INSERT ANOTHER GAME THAT DOES THE ABOVE HERE] is more flashy and already got their investment. Don't let go.

Not Recommended because The Finals...

  • ...has an absolutely phenomenal seasonal and themed soundtrack. They nailed the vibes.
  • ...has amazing maps and great attention to detail...except there are way too many bamboo trees in Kyoto.
  • ...could have changed the whole FPS scene with its fantastic concept, chaotic charm, and objective focus. Both too simple and too strategic for most.
  • ...has a healthy but stabilized cross-platform population is stabilized to the point where Embark has to be risk adverse to maintain it.
  • ...has awesome trailers, in-game "sponsorship"/"brand" advertising, and cosmetics which establishes an unique identity.
  • ...has an identity which is marketable, but the market isn't there.
  • ...may be forgotten like previous arena niche greats, such as: Dirty Bomb and Lawbreakers
