An Incremental Gem

Godsbane Idle is an adventure incremental game at its core with foundational idle mechanics that will feel like home to those familiar with the genre. I've yet to meet such a wholesome developer who is actively working with the community to both help players along, and receive feedback to improve a game they're passionate about.

You'll begin your journey through Godsbane by equipping gear through the monsters you slay, followed by eventually powering your combat effectiveness with their very souls all the while your search for new ways to play through the unique skill tree filled with notable changes to the way you play.

You'll find as you continue to explore the world a wide array of new unfolding mechanics such as..
  • Unique Items/Gear
  • Crafting Techniques
  • Intricate Prestige Mechanics
  • Boss Encounters
  • Challenges
  • Much more...

Orb of Creation is a Masterpiece
This game had very humble beginnings and has come together to be an incredible well-crafted incremental game. You will begin with what feels like a very simple premise but quickly are introduced to various unfolding mechanics that all work in tangent with one another as you build up from a simple orb of mana to what feels like a kingdom.

You'll work with spells of creation to generate a resource that in turn is used to power your creations, armory, and unique augmentations. Through both the power of spacial magic and alchemy, you can improve your efficiency and journey through this rich world.

I absolutely recommend this game to anyone who loves incremental games.

It's an absolute gem, with what surprised me as also including a wonderfully voice-acted narrative alongside a lot of Portal-esque humor!

I've been waiting on this one for a good while now ever since I was able to get a quick taste of a demo about a year ago. The game runs smooth and the diversity of options between skills feels like genuine choice that's been missing in a lot of games for awhile.

This content pack provides extra options available to those who've invested a good deal of time into the game already, and would like to have more content available (and if this did not exist, would be unlikely to exist at all since I assume there are so many resources that can be put towards a project with zero financial returns).

I've played the base, free version on mobile and web for a good while and have gotten so many afternoons out of it I was happy to support the developer.

THIS GAME IS ABSOLUTELY FREE TO PLAY
Optional content which you might want to have more after investing a large sum of time is available for those who want to use it. This is NOT a demo disguised as a F2P game. The content that is paid, you can imagine as would of never existed if there was no potential to at least gain some revenue for the countless hundreds of hours invested during development. If $5 is too much for that, you value the time of others less than the dirt in your yard. So, if you find yourself upset over that.. join the others in the review section who might as well start #FreeDevLabor2021 on Twitter.

This is a game that I've been playing for free on mobile and on my PC when I'm around it for a long while, and never had to spend a dime. The game is now even more expansive, and on one of my favorite platforms!

There are multiple different areas, and it takes some actual attention to work out the best way to go forward. I reset my first world multiple times after I figured out "Oh man I should do this.. redo!" The tutorial is brief, and you're encouraged to find your own preferred way of moving ahead. If you want something to click every two days and think entirely for you, this is not the game. If you're busy with other work / tasks and still want to keep 'stimulated' but not to the extent most games might, then this is for you.

Update (Nov. 24, 2021): Absolutely still holds the same amount of love as my original review, it's such a beautiful thing to see what started as a browser passion project.. grow into this beast of incremental genius.

Melvor Idle is the embodiment of something a lot of us found so many memories in as children / young adults and are unable to spare the attention it would require as we grew older.

The developer, and those that have assisted the project over the years are incredibly kind and active people. They remind me of what I enjoyed so much in indie studios all those years ago. The community for this game is incredible, with the wiki being detailed beyond anything I've seen since, well.. actual Runescape / OSRS!

So, about the game then!
It's an Idle simulator featuring a "Runescape/OSRS" progression base, along with various ways to progress as you see fit. There is no "one-size-fits-all," so its up to you to decide if you want to jump into fighting Goblins from level one, or wait until you've maxed out your life skills to meet that Goblin, or whoever you face, in the best gear you can make.

You'll find interesting loot through combat, alongside challenge inside of its dungeon system as you progress. Use gold to purchase basic materials, expand your bank so you can carelessly craft items, and buy upgrades for your skills!

It's well worth the money, and if you enjoy any type of "idle simulator" then this is the best I've found to date.
