I really wanted to like this game, but between its outdated graphics, dull gameplay, simplistic plot, awful forced stealth sections, and disregard for the stories and game it is based on I came away with nothing but disappointment. As other reviewers have said, it's not a bad game by any measure, but it's also far from good. I will admit, there are three or four moments that I genuinely enjoyed, but that comes at the cost of hours of tedious gameplay. It feels like the developers put a lot of effort into a few short sections, and the rest of the game is just padding. For example, a huge portion of the game is devoted to one fairly uninteresting monster which has little to do with the Cthulhu mythos and feels like it's only there to add length and make it a "horror" game using jumpscares.

Like I said, it's not a bad game; the atmosphere is generally solid, the environments would be interesting if they weren't held back by dull and unimpressive graphics, and the detective mechanics could have been enjoyable if they had more than half an hour to actually flourish.

Overall verdict, it would be worth getting this game on sale, but I can't recommend it at its current price.
