I want to recommend this game, especially given the AAA price range, but I simply can't.

Close to no content
Flailed around with AI for 2 hrs seemingly getting brutally slaughtered on the lowest difficulty.
Played 5/6 missions on veteran with my bro and 2 rando's once over 3 hrs, pretty much completing most of the game in a single session as it always had the same 4 enemy types with 6 guns, a healing item and a pipe bomb.

Matchmaking is good!
All members of the community we've run into were communicative and friendly. Automated matchmaking worked heavenly without any dropouts. Inviting people in the hub was more troublesome and not recommended. You also likely don't get to be in the same hub as your friend so invite over social tab by their id.

Customization is there, but luster
Me and my friend got different drops (barrel and gun) and neither could really tell a difference. In fact, my buddy dropped the new assault rifle to go back to the pistol due to the considerable ammo constraints.

The same Boss you fight on each level is a dumb bulletsponge
My buddy basically did the same trick running around in circles for what feels like forever shooting a glowy bit until it finally goes down. The terrain somewhat changes but once you see the circle and 2 replenishing ammo crates you know what time it is, even if it's your "first time on this map".

Conclusion: not recommended
The shooting and gun handling is ok (Although you have close to no recoil) and the visuals/audio are solid.
I also think what little of a story there is, it's alright. You can tell the team has improved a lot on for instance animations since Arizona Sunshine.
Unfortunately we're 2021 and Pavlov Zombie mod handled many of the above pointsbetter at a quarter of the price. LOOK ELSEWHERE!

I bought State of Decay under the false store page premise of it being a co-op game to play with a friend.
It suffers many fake co-op elements other co-op games do such as only being able to interact with mission objectives as the host player or the host player being the only one to switch between the host session survivors and manage the base.

You're just a hired gun to help around for a particularly challenging mission, nothing else.

The multiplayer last man standing campaign is fun to complete but with a playtime of around an hour (if you have a good group) and no replayability (Aside from the spawn location the maps and drops are the same) this game is not up to today's 'sandbox' or 'roguelike' standards.

What makes State of Decay 2 a ok game is the single player aspect of managing a community and learning their stories as you scavenge and explore a dystopian world where humans act as either traders or communities to kill and plunder.

SoD2's cosmetics and bounty system is good, the guns you get as rewards are underwhelming.
The audio system attracting more zombies is very well implemented.

The characters you'll meet in the main game don't have stories and all behave under the same formula of complete 2 favor missions when I ask them and I'll consider you an ally providing specific radio command X for a influence price.

"Hearthland" in particular, the game classified as the 'main story mode' provides the buggiest experience where the doctor asked me to come to her because 'the lieutenant died' (when he was standing right next to me fighting a juggernaut and actually came to meet her at the base where she explained how the plan changed with his death).

Going off-road to not drive 5 minutes on a detour road, cars frequently get stuck, especially in the desert map, in ditches or between trees where you have to abandon them with all the loot you stashed in the trunk.

There is no pause option, so if you answer a call / door / ... you have a good chance you'll come back to your AI having attacked a zombie, alerted a feral, died to it and killed you in the process which autosaved the game which in hearthland doesn't offer you a chance to recruit non-story characters.

SoD2 is at the full 30 euro price a letdown for me who was reading praising reviews of L4D meets RDD. There is little to no way to interact between players (you can't free another character from a zombie like the hunter or smoker in L4D unless if the character is near-death and you shoot a zombie playing an animation to deliver the killing blow).

Buy better community mgmt or real online games.

I stumbled into a tour group by accident where Collin explained how the MoR team identified art and went through the various processes to port them to the museum as well as various easter eggs.

You can walk into some pieces, others are interactive, almost none of it is explained so it's a true adventure to explore and try out.

I had high expectations from this-- they were surpassed greatly!
Thank you so much for all your work on this: Collin & the rest of the MoR team, I'll be checking in with my friends in the future!

MY ARM FEELS TIRED FROM SLASHING UNDEAD ORC SKULLS!
Karnage Chronicles is a solid 5/7 hack and slash / archer shooter.
BUY THIS WITH UP TO 3 VR-FRIENDS, DO NOT BOTHER WITH SINGLE PLAYER!

PRO's
+ Stunning level design
+ Fun melee and ranged gameplay
+ Many quirky secrets, one of them even a miniboss
+ Ragdoll effects and beheading
+ Polished, hardly had any enemies floating through the sky or clipping through environments
+ Belt action bar / menu / inventory system provides good access to complex set of items
+ Engaging bossfights with unique mechanics and sizes
+ Trash loot is very limited, almost each item drop is a true reward
+ "Orc punting" ;-)

CON's
- Light on content (+/- 7 hrs to clear all 3 dungeons on normal difficulty trying to explore and mine each hall)
with little to no replayability incentive
- Lineair, stale story-driven VR Experience, no memorable characters or interactions
- Your uncle's volumous monologue "voice acting"
- I expected a RPG with level/skill/... progression
there is none aside from the gear you collect to upgrade flat hp and damage, your only 2 stats.
- Ranged-only fights become more and more common as you progress which makes the warrior a bit of a handicapped loner; having said that the crossbow is viable if you upgrade it (this never drops in the dungeon)

All in all, I am extremely happy with my on-sale purchase.

Greetings fellow dwarves!
Might I interest you in joining the Miner Union?

Are you looking to do any Mining?
Drone commanding?
Interested in flamethrowers, miniguns & C4?

Sign up with Deeprock Galactic today and we'll be having exotic pints at the space rig after a bug job well done!

Honestly the game graphics look off-putting the first time I looked at this steam page.
My friend got me to try the game and push into getting my first promotion(extra perk slot, golden statue, deep dive etc).
The game seemed grindy at the 10 hour mark but by the 20th when that first promotion got in seemed like an entirely different game when everything sort of "clicked" from the perks & upgrades to the ever expanding content.

I've seen quite a few balance tweaks and new enemies (Suppressors, ice praetorians) as allies (Steeve) and I can confirm this Early Access Game from signing on to what it is now has taken a few curves but damnit if every stage of it has not been an exciting journey with either pick-up groups or friends!

PROs
+ Challenging, rewarding co-op game
+ Variety of classes / impactful loadouts influencing gameplay
+ Random generated worlds with randomized "hazards" ensure high replayability
+ Active community at any hour of the day
+ Runs on my 10+ year machine (6GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 5800, I7-870)
+ Good amount of quality hours vs decent price (+/-100 hours / €30)

CONs
- Steep learning curve (no handholding tutorials here)
- Deep Dives don't allow drop-in/drop-out which can make it impossible to do elite dives without 3 friends

Lost my head, someone kicked it off a cliff and it landed in a cart next to another.
8/10 would get beheaded again!

Mordhau is regarded the spiritual successor to Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, it handles a bunch of things extras on top of what you get from a standard PvP melee game but the extras come with a con as well.

PROs:
- Highly customizable load-out including cosmetics
- Dual grip or throw mitigates the usual: archer -> footman -> knight "rockpaperscissors" gameplay
- Peasant-mode: Go to battle with the armor restrictions of your every day medieval peasant!
- Deep melee engine : weapons will clash with other weapons, projectiles, allowing you to parry and counterattack at the same time
- Cavalry and constructable siege weapons!

CONs:
- Not well-polished (examples below)
- Highly customizable loadout can make for some cheezy compositions (examples below)
- The scoring system (examples below)
- Fairly demanding load on my HDD
Consider upgrading to SSD prior to buying as you'll sometimes get kicked on loadingscreen for loading too long

As of writing I'm 12 hrs in with: 1 custom loadout(a light-armored halberd) and explored each of the game modes.

Frontline
The frontline maps are fairly rudimentary with capture point X and destroy objective Y(usually a barrel or barricade), the main reason you'd play Frontline is to be in a massive battlefield with a rather slow tug-of-war playthrough. A match takes around 20~30 minutes. The main issue I have with Frontline is the cheezy loadouts where 1 person can have 3 fire pots and basically force 1 spawn to jump through it starting with 50% hp.

Horde mode
This to me was not only a nice added feature but I got arguably the most fun out of surviving waves of peasants, footmen, Landsknechts and eventually a huge armored boss with some friends. Every map has their own "hidden" areas where you'll find different items to buy and .

Battle royale
This to me seemed more of a publicity stunt than a real mode, it's one of the areas of the game it feels incredibly clunky. Opening chests means your weapons/armor fall to the ground and start rolling down the hill, in 1 particular map it will literally fall through the world and you'll be praying you pressed E in the right places to get everything. The game is incredibly luck-based in the sense that most people spawn next to a chest with a guaranteed weapon, if you don't have such a spawn, well good luck punching your way into Valhalla, hope next game you get a small chance.

Are archers the li'l ♥♥♥♥♥ they are in Chivalry and most other melee games?
Yes but not as much, the maps are fairly well designed in the sense there are many "shelters" and as the projectiles fly a bit slower in this game, a skilled, shieldless peasant can knock an arrow out of the sky with his pitchfork.

Aren't horses, traps, additional feature X incredibly overpowered?
It depends on the map and team composition but in most cases you have it on your team as well which kind of makes up for it... The main issue is some maps are heavily "stacked" in frontline mode in favor of one team where they always spawn 2x further away from the objectives as the other team, Iron Company will ALWAYS lose Mountain Pass for this reason and always have little ♥♥♥♥♥ on their team which just throw fire pots and bear traps all over the Iron Company castle... =)

Scoring system is rubbish
You can parry a series of attacks from an enemy while your teammate or one of the enemy team kills the person you're fighting and not get any assist. I've been in the top 5 with a negative KDR above people with a positive KDR just being near the action and throwing a first aid kit for my team every now and again. In my opinion the scoreboard is just silly.

Recommend, get at full price!
If you're into melee games, this game is a solid buy for it's price, you'll be able to start your unlocks of cosmetics earlier as well as get a hell of a lot more enjoyment transitioning from horrible to less bad at the unique melee playstyles. Games like For Honor will not be able to compete with the vast modes and options Mordhau has to offer (except for the Single Player campaign which is handsdown fantastic).

I've completed this game completely about 8 times now and I have to say I really enjoy all of them.
Partially thanks to the game but mostly of the way it forces you to interact with other people
Describing things to any of my friends is a completely different experience and it's funny to me how they all make sense.

We Were Here brings something quirky & unique I didn't know I was missing until I've played it and I hope more games like these will appear in the future.

For a free game you really cannot go wrong with this one. :)
