The most life changing experience I've had whilst playing the game, really opened up my eyes to things, like cucks hiding in closets and feds glowing.

The reason why Queen Victoria was such a great ruler was because she had "Vector" in her name.

Early Access Review
Returning to the game after a little over a year, I’ve changed my review from Recommended to Not Recommended.

The game has lost its soul, it’s just not what it used to be. And I don’t mean that in the sense that there’s a lot of new content, expanded maps, or anything that naturally makes a game evolve. What I mean is that the game feels fundamentally different, and not in a good way.

Let me explain.
When Deadside was in its early stages, I’d rush home from work, ring up my buddies, and we’d jump on for a session until midnight. It was so much fun. Sure, the bots back then were insanely tough, especially the ones in watchtowers with Mosins, but that challenge made clearing a facility so much more rewarding. The loot felt valuable because you had to work for it.

Now? The same kind of loot we used to grind hours for in the underground tunnels is just… everywhere.

When my friends and I returned to Deadside after a year-long break, we got bored so quickly. Weapons and loot are everywhere. The largest PvP official servers now feel like a battle royale. That’s not the Deadside we fell in love with. I remember how exciting it was to find a submachine gun or an AK heart-racing moments. Back then, loot felt precious, not disposable. Going out with your Stalker backpack felt like a risk because it was the only one that could carry multiple weapons. Now? You can loot a house and craft a backpack that holds even more. It’s made upgrades feel meaningless.

And speaking of loot… the prevalence is ridiculous. I’ve spawned in and found Bizons in random shacks near houses countless times. Back then, you’d have to venture into high-risk areas like military bases or mission locations to find even an MP5, let alone a Bizon. And those places? They felt like actual challenges. Just yesterday, I cleared an Elite mission with a shotgun and a low-tier submachine gun. That would’ve been impossible a year ago.

Clearing missions used to require careful positioning, patience, map knowledge, and a well-thought-out approach. Now, bots are basically stormtroopers. Sure, a year ago, they were annoying as hell, sniping you through bushes and whatnot. But instead of improving them in meaningful ways, the developers just dumbed them down.

They could’ve done so much more! For example:

Reduce their aim if they don’t have a clear shot (like through bushes or trees)
Make them regroup and push together
Have them retreat and heal if injured
Use cover effectively or try flanking you

Instead, we’ve got bots that run in circles, charge you solo, or just act erratically. It’s such a disappointment.

The game has become too easy. I’ve never gotten so many player kills in my life. Honestly, I’d say 80% of my total kills have happened in the past few weeks since returning. That’s not a flex. It’s a testament to how easy it is to get geared up. Loot is so disposable now that you don’t even mind risking it in every fight. Die? No problem. Spawn, loot a few shacks, and you’re right back in the action in minutes. It feels like a battle royale, which is not what this game was sold to me as.

I miss the challenge. I miss the value of loot. I miss how rewarding the grind used to feel. Even when recent PvP fights were thrilling, winning just didn’t feel satisfying anymore.

And don’t even get me started on base-building. The game might as well be called FortSide now. Building is as straightforward and easy as Fortnite. Seriously?
It used to feel so rewarding to finish your dream base. Back then, you had to search for nails, materials, and that precious code lock. Now, you can throw up a massive base in hours. Sure, raiding was a bit easier before, but making base-building effortless wasn’t the solution.

I’ve seen discussions about how the game has gotten too easy. I’d love to hear what others think, start a discussion in the comments. Let’s talk about the current state of the game.

But I’m not engaging with comments that default to insults or the “it’s you, not the game” argument. It’s obvious I’m not the only one noticing the direction this game has taken.

If you’re looking for a true survival experience, there are other games for that. If you want exhilarating PvP, there’s Tarkov or battle royales. If you want base-building and raiding, just play Rust.
Deadside has lost what made it unique.

So, in its current state, I can’t recommend this game.

Extremely cheap, old as fúck, really fun in MP despite the instability, has lots of issues especially with mods, and somehow is still better than vic3
