This right here is my experience and review for Dead By Daylight. Keep in mind most of the information reflects my own experiences as a Killer Main. The information should be detailed enough to let you know if you'd stick with it or not!.

Low Ranks:
At low ranks the killer seems to determine much of the pacing. Survivors are figuring things out- getting things done. You'll run into groups looking to goof around, and it's sometimes a good time to do it! I happened to jump back in right before the Terrormisu event added the cakes to Blood-webs. During your first few matches you'll learn a thing or two- and you can decide rather quickly if you want to invest more time into it. It's simple and sweet- but the variables and mind games are what makes and breaks this game's enjoyment for you. This set of experiences is fairly limited- and you should start seeing change as soon as you lapse into Silver!

Middle Ranks:
You're starting to understand things, and you're noticing a balance shift. This is the deciding factor in if you stick with the game or not! Survivors understand things pretty well, know their match-ups. Maybe they're just getting really good at looping, or perhaps they've understood how your power works just off a glance. The middle ranks are for experimentation and study. Figure out how people work, use different perk combinations as well as add-ons to find the best possible set-up. This is where I got really hooked into the gameplay loop. This is where the largest section of time will be spent deciding if you wish to continue investing your time into it.

High Ranks:
The Iridescent ranks- The Holy grail where Content Creators rest. This is where tried and true methods come to play. People bring their A-games and try to make something of themselves. Mind you it took multiple resets back when it was still the Ranking system to make it into the Iridescent ranks. This is where all of your efforts are put to the test and you're met with an actual challenge.

As for why I personally recommend Dead By Daylight it comes down to three very important factors. The gameplay loop is simple and enjoyable. The selection of Killers to pick between includes archetypes familiar in the horror genre with enough wiggle room and spectacle to keep players entertained long term. Updates happening frequently, and new content being added on a scheduled basis ensure that Dead By Daylight will be around for a long time.

Since no review is entirely positive, welcome to the 'cons'! It is time consuming to get anywhere significant in game. Without spending money on the DLCs to acquire characters one will not reasonably be able to play in the higher tiers of the game without making the investment. Now this is a double edged sword as some of the most impactful perks in the game's history have been attached to DLC.

All in all, I'd recommend the game- It's a great way to spend an afternoon, and besides that the homages to old school horror movies makes my heart warm.

A fun enough time waster, works well enough with archetypes like all games of its kind. Monsters are my favored faction.

A fun little time waster so long as you don't dump money into Bethesda's never-ending pit of cash. Just stick to playing daily.
