Excellent game with a dedicated dev team.
I can't recommend it enough.

If you're into horde shooters with kooky lore, engaging mechanics, worthwhile progression, lively / friendly communities, and a frequent content release cycle, then welcome home HellDiver. You're in the right place.

Big plus that they listen to their player base too, and it shows.

I got a lot of enjoyment out of the team creation aspect of this game - taking a personalized team of pun-based Orks from squishy greenhorns to granite-jawed vets felt great, and reminded me in some ways of playing the Xcom franchise. If there is any aspect of this game to draw enjoyment from, it's this.

Everything else about this game, however, is garbage. It can be compared, pretty reasonably, to a convoluted slot machine with lots of cardboard cutout action and deceptively inconsequential decisions to keep it mildly interesting.
There is almost no tactical involvement in this game whatsoever. Nearly everything comes down to a dice roll, leaving pretty much all of your tactical decisions in the hands of an intensely capricious RNGsus who WILL ruin your day at every opportunity. An irritatingly high number of insanely great plays are reverted or negated based entirely on a single dice roll, or some nonsense turn where the enemy pulls off multiple nye-impossible rolls, or kills/removes half of your team from play while your team is failing to pull off a single block. It feels cheap; in fact I would go so far as to say that it never doesn't feel cheap. All of the challenge in this game comes from rolling the dice. Not strategically placing your players or successfully securing tackles. Rolling dice...
At least in Xcom the dice are actually under the hood. In Blood Bowl it feels as though the entire car is made of dice.

What I'm trying to say is, if you're looking for an experience which requires the strategic acumen of Xcom - or any other game which requires coherent thought rather than luck to win - this probably isn't for you.
If you, however, enjoy fantasy-based NFL dressup simulators with slot-machine style gameplay, then I would recommend purchasing this game at its next large sale - and only if you have friends who want to play it as well, because playing against the computer is probably one of the worst experiences I've had playing a game in my entire life.

I'm not even going to go into the whole money-grabbing DLC nonsense that this company is notorious for, since I'm sure other raters have already reamed them thoroughly for it, but that is among the other reasons this title gets a solid thumbs down.

This game could easily compete with League of Legends for "Most Toxic Community" award.

If you buy it I would recommend turning off voice. A significant portion of the people you'll be playing with are more interested in spamming, griefing, or just generally being trolls than they are in communicating about strategy.

Other than that it's a decent game - good if you need a quick and cheap injection of FPS gameplay in the same vein as the old America's Army games before they became 'CoDified'. Overall if you ignore the community it's worth the low pricetag, but only if you're into this style of somewhat slow, strategic-lite FPS; Otherwise steer clear.

This game should be fun, but something's not quite right with it.
The level to which RNG influences gameplay makes the rogue elements more difficult to enjoy. At times it feels like the entire game is based more on luck than strategy or anything else, so there's not really any gratification in finishing big bosses or long stages.
Conceptually it's pretty cool, and scratches a similar itch that games like Xcom do with the team building elements they both share, but after a couple of hours it loses most of its charm and just becomes frustrating.
I wouldn't recommend buying it unless it goes on sale for under half price.
