Afterbirth expands remarkably upon the base game (rebirth). Tons of new content; new bosses, new challenges, new achievements and a whole new game mode (not to mention daily challenges with leader boards). A staggeringly expansive and well crafted DLC. Well worth the money and provides fantastic new experiences. Viva la bullet hell!

Easley another 200 hours of content included for the truly dedicated Isaac fan. I cannot praise Edmund McMillen enough for this one. Have fun in there, guys!

Rarely do I ever find myself so speechless throughout and upon the conclusion of a game quite like I did when experiencing Undertale. I must admit to being somewhat sceptical about the game at first, though it is not often I judge based on first impressions. I throw myself upon the mercy of Mr. Fox for not realising what a gem Undertale was sooner. I repent such a grievous sin!

The Story:
The plot of Undertale is deep and engaging from start to finish and the comedic fashion in which it is presented will have you in stitches. For such a low price as £6.99, I've laughed harder than the cost of the game has hit my wallet. The characters are extremely likeable and full of personality, you'll struggle to find one that outshines the other. A player may chose their path, free from influence of game mechanics. However, I must warn you that the story in either vein will hit you right where it hurts. Right in the feels...

Never before have I felt myself so emotionally swept away by the charm and enchanting tale spun by a game of this calibre. Pixel art does little to detract from the connection you make to the world of Undertale. It makes one question their own morality and allows the player to make their own decisions. Be it walking the path of a conscientious objector, a cold blooded murderer or anywhere in between, the story is as fragrant as a bowl of freshly chopped onions. The feeeeeels!!!

Every facet of the game's plot is oozing with love and care. One can really notice and appreciate all of the effort and planning that has gone into the creation of such a moving story. As an individual who values and treasures a good story, I am deeply impressed and thankful to Toby Fox for offering such mind blowing adventure to the world.

Graphics:
While the 8 bit pixel art style may turn some from the majesty of a game, I'm not sure I could picture Undertale playing in any other format. It is vibrant, quirky, and full of personality! The overworld is brimming with colour which contrasts against the rather forlorn atmosphere of the underground. This is clever in the sense that despite the dreary nature of things, hope still exists.

Gameplay:
I love bullet hell, puzzles and all round challenging gameplay. The pace of the game is well crafted, between moments of calm where one can explore and progress through the game, boss battles and random overworld encounters, this game has a good mix of gameplay. Of course, due to its 8 bit style the game is limited to such mechanics, but this hardly erodes the enjoyment of it.

Fanbase:
My only discrepancy of opinion lies within the fan base. While I indulge in some of the lighter aspects; I must say that the overabundance of AUs (Alternate Universes), some of which go above and beyond the bizarre, atrocious and often pandered fanart/fanfictions, and awkward cosplays do leave a rather nasty taste in my mouth. I, myself, have composed some small works of fanart and I enjoy a spot of writing here and there, but what grips me is the canonical, unaltered and original concept of Undertale in its standard form. I care little for these alternate guises and find myself uncomfortable with some of the art that is produced by the community. It concerns me that this aspect of Undertale, in and of itself, might turn others away from approaching the game. This would be a shame as it is a fantastic experience that I encourage everyone to try at least once.

However, let me make it clear that not all fans of Undertale practice these acts. I have seen many individually crafted works of art and stories that are very interesting and extol the virtues of the game. Having said that...

I am but one voice against a backdrop of many sharing similar opinions. It is always best to see for yourself. £6.99 is pittance for such an engaging experience. Give it a try, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Early Access Review
In it's current state I cannot reccomend this game. While I do realise it is in early access the game had greater stability in all areas BEFORE all the new updates.

There is so much more I could say about this, but then I would just be repeating what a multitude of others have posted already.

Rude developers, rude community, crude game at this point in time. I hope it returns to it's former lustre soon, I cannot say I will be returning all too often anymore.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is everything a sequel (re-master) should be, without a shadow of a doubt.

- More Bosses (Harder bosses, both new and old!)
- More Enemies (More ways to die!)
- More Items (More synergies!)
- More Rooms (Lose yourself in the maze!)
- More Levels (Can't have enough playable content!)
- More Challenges (Bring it on!)
- More Curses (Yay..?)
- And much more!

While the art-style of the game has become more pixelated (which I think kind of gives it its charm!), the performance has only benefitted as a result. The original Binding of Isaac ran on a flash engine, and as you can imagine, when s*** hit the fan the application had a bit of a seizure. It would chug along, threatening to grind to a complete halt at times... though, of course this only happened from time to time... it was still a bit of a pain. Now, replaced with a much more efficient and stable engine (expect 60fps at least on most PCs), the game runs like a dream.

- New Art
- New Soundtrack (Different in many respects from the original, but still gets my blood pumping!)
- New Endings
- New Ways To Play (Introducing a level seed system!)

I loved the first Binding of Isaac, and this sequel/remake is everything it should be.

Gameplay 10/10
Soundtrack 10/10
Replay Value 20/10
Social life 0/10
Damage Up +0.5
Range Up +1.2
Tears Down -0.2
Shot Speed -0.3
Tear Height +0.8

100/10 - would Godhead again! ;D

Now, I've never been a huge fan of the top-down rogue-like genre of gaming...

Until I played The Binding of Isaac! <3

Indifferent at first, I watched a friend of mine dungeon crawl his way through room after room, fighting off hordes of twisted, gnarled and deranged looking monsters, spiders, flies... even the harbingers of the apocalypse themselves! It was at this point my interest was peaked...

I hadn't given the game much thought before that, and so decided to try it out for myself. Instantly hooked...
Since then, I've not stopped! While frustrating at times, practice makes perfect. I soon got a handle on the game and have since moved on to the sequel (The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth), which only got better from there.

Gameplay 10/10
Soundtrack 10/10
Replay Value 10/10
Social Life 0/10
Would definitely recommend trying it out!

10/10, would Mod again!

But in all seriousness, I've clocked in nearly over 300 hours on this game alone - more than any other in my steam library. Yeah, it's bugged up to the eyeballs, and the occasional CTD can get a little frustrating, but I personally blame it on my inability to load Mod orders correctly, lol.

There are plenty of fixes out there; and considering the sheer mammoth size of the modding community, there are countless ways to renovate, enhance and completely alter the experience each play through.

You get out what you put in with this one I'm afraid. I wouldn't recommend it for those who don't care much for modding, aren't too savvy with mods, or simply don't want to sink the time and effort into finding and installing them (correctly). The stability of the game may suffer for it (at times), but if you've set up your mods correctly the collateral damage is pretty unnoticeable, and will only rear its ugly head from time to time. Some mods even exist to minimize/fix certain problems that exist in the vanilla game, or as a by-product of other mods.

Suffice it to say, if you're inclined to buy this game and you find yourself enjoying the experience, You'll be spoilt for choice, and replaying the game over and over again to sample all that the game, and the modding community, has to offer!

The narrator makes the game...
Really, he does...

Overall I'd rate the game 11 bazillion..! out of 10.
I've spent countless hours in Co-op mode and now am currently working my way through Insane mode! The game is comprised of puzzle based side scrolling levels, time trials, and vs arena games. The art style of the game is very appealing and adds to the endless humour!

I recommend this game to anyone who is feeling blue, it will give you a right old chuckle!
