4 of my soldiers have 90% chance to hit.
I select the first one, he misses. I select the next, he misses.
I try once more. She misses. Finally, my 4th 90% shot. I click and...
It's a miss.
Select my last character who has a turn
10% chance to hit.
"♥♥♥♥ it, why not?"
Critical hit that one shots the enemy
That's just XCOM 2 BABBYYYYY

I need to get back into this game and beat it, because it gives me the exact feeling that playing the original games and THPS3 gave me as a kid: Just pure, happy, FUN!

The remastered controls are a massive improvement, the maps look great and more modernized while keeping their original charm and overall feel, and the new objectives in levels and new collectibles to find add so much more to the exploration and learning of the map layouts. My only real complaint is less about what we got, and more about what i want. I really wish we got the maps from THPS3 thrown in as well, as that game was easily my most played in the series.

If you want a realstic skating sim, this isn't it, but if you want an arcade feeling, fun skating game? You can't really go wrong. Bonus points if you grew up on the originals, in my opinion. The soundtrack has most of the songs from the original games, and added new ones that mesh perfectly with the vibes of the game.

The controls also feel super responsive, they just... work. The game doesn't feel overly floaty, and it's honestly not too hard to get the basics down. (Though i still suck at comboing properly. I'll get it, i'm sure.)
Note: I have not tested the multiplayer because it doesn't interest me, but others say it doesn't work at all, so if you want it for multiplayer, keep that in mind.

Honestly in my top 3 favorite games (alongside Hades and Baldur's Gate 3) is it perfect?
No.
Do i absolutely love it?
You bet.

I suck at reviews so the specifics on WHY i love it so much are not too easy to put into words beyond super generic "I love the characters, i love the storyline, etc...) Both of those things are true, to be fair. The game has some great art, the soundtrack is done well, it's not too over the top and in your face, and it works at what it's meant to do. My only real complain is that the card game aspect gets a bit repetitive, but i can look past that due to the fact i love the story and characters so much, and the card game itself isn't bad, it's just the only challenge. Combat encounter? Card game. Social encounter? Card game. Studying engineering? Card game.

But despite that, i find myself coming back to this game again, i got like 4 endings in my last session, and I STILL find myself drawn to the game.

I truly hope the devs eventually decide to make another game in this same style, maybe go a fantasy route instead of sci-fi, maybe do a prequel/sequel type setting to this game, maybe even just have a game in the same universe. I don't know, i justk now i want more of this kind of game from this dev team. I found this game originally while looking for games with romance aspects to them, and I ended up falling more in love with it then i had originally planned, and i am very happy i decided to take the leap and buy the game that, at the time, didn't have much in way of reviews beyond very basic stuff. I cannot wait to see more from this devteam, but i will keep holding on to hope we get more of this style of game from them.

Probably my favorite Soulslike game that isn't by fromsoft. It's got a fun mix of everything i like about all the From games honestly, once the combat system lands with you, it becomes really fun, i cannot recommend this game enough.

This has been one of the perfect games when i just need something to relax with. Simple gameplay, cheap DLC for content, and really easy to just turn off your brain and color. I'm the kind of person who will occasionally put a game in windowed mode and play with Youtube/Netflix/etc on the side and this game is perfect for it. It's easy to just pick up and put down, sometimes i have 30 minutes to spend doing something, and this game is a fantastic one to just put up for 30 minutes to make some progress, then leave for whatever it was i needed to do. Super happy i randomly discovered this.

I really wanted to like this game more, i did, but i cannot stand the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ alarm system. So many levels are ruined by the gimmick of an alarm that goes off to start summoning in endless waves of enemies from random doors around the map, it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't super common, but it happens in so many missions and it gets old, really, REALLY, fast.

You can see the doors, and you know where they are, but they don't consistently come through any one door, you can have them pop up behind you in a spot that makes all of the cover in the area obsolete, or you can get lucky and have them come out of a door from early in the level and need to take 2 turns to get to you. It's not consistent or fun, it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ time pressure that i really do not like, it could be made so much better if you had at least a couple more turns before the alarm goes off. If you hate games with time pressure in missions, this is not the one for you.
