Automation – The Car Company Tycoon: A Dream Simulator… and an Engineer’s Nightmare

Automation is a game where you become an automotive tycoon. Or, based on my experience, a tycoon of manufacturing rolling coffins. You’re given complete freedom here: want to make a supercar with a V12 engine? Go ahead! Or maybe a three-wheeled wreck with a lawnmower engine? Sure, but good luck selling it to anyone other than a grandma who just needs it to get to her garden.

It all starts off promisingly: you have a factory, a blank sheet of paper, and big dreams. You’re full of ideas and enthusiasm until you realize your million-dollar car can’t get past the next intersection because you forgot to add brakes. Or your “affordable family car” accelerates to 100 km/h in two seconds but burns through a full tank of gas faster than you can say “affordable.”

The design editor is a true gem. It’s so detailed that you feel like you’re sculpting the perfect car out of clay for hours, only to realize you installed the headlights backwards and the grille looks like a hippo’s grin. But hey, it’s fun!

This game teaches you one thing: building a good car is hard, but making a profitable one is nearly impossible. Yet when your janky vehicle somehow sells and becomes a hit, you feel like a true genius. Or a fraud.

Automation isn’t just a game—it’s a test of your nerves and sanity. It’s the perfect simulator for anyone who thinks there’s not enough chaos in their life. 9/10, highly recommended
