Early Access Review
Nice world to escape and zone out, to build and to fight. Every aspect of the game is nicely balanced. The survival system, building as well as fighting. Slow updates are forgivable for such a small team and their commitment to stable updates instead of throwing broken features out there.

UPDATED REVIEW: There are some negative reviews about the slow development or complaining in general. To give you an overview, we talk about a 5 head development team that upon it's commercial success didn't pump PR like Squad (Kerbal Space Program) or Keen (Space Engineers) did and wasted money on stuff that wasn't relevant for development just to have development completely stall in success to that. Keen has core features not working for over half a decade now and Squad shelved 90% of the features and only implemented those existing in mods already. Waste of money.

No, Iron Gate saw their success, received complains about stability issues and put quality as their prime objective, doubling down on working on the game. They wanted the existing content to be as enjoyable as possible. I sometimes forget it's still an Early-Access, because the only thing that makes it feel like an EA-Title are the updates. It is more stable than MOST games fully released for 70 bucks by AAA developers/publishers.

They invested time in improving performance and stability of the game and streched their roadmap of 2021 over two years. Honestly, it's absolutely worth it. Sure, content isn't coming out as fast, but what's content if you can't enjoy it when it's riddled with bugs? Iron Gate went the right way and want their game connected with quality content which it is.

Negative reviews are rarely justified for this game.
It's mostly players that do not understand the cost of labour and time that is required for quality. Finding and fixing bugs and resulting bugs is harder than throwing out meaningless content.
Then there are players that do not realize that new (building/crafting) recipes are unlocked only after obtaining new items and cry about the lack of content. We define those specimens under the term "Noobs".
And there are also players thinking the game is too hardcore, advancing into the highest biomes with starting gear because that's what you'd do in any game, right? Going for the end boss after the tutorial because who cares about increase of difficulty in game. They are also summarized as Noobs.

If you still aren't sure if you want to get Valheim, I don't know how else to convince you. There are games I've played 4000h I can't recommend, yet this one is a gem revealing itself after a few hours. The base game is already top quality, mod support further improves it's enjoyability if you want to. Maybe when I'm around 1000h I feel like testing out mods, so far the stock game suffies.

This game has 3 fundamental flaws. Two of them are technical, one of them concerning gameplay/balancing.

1) Mousecapturing.

It doesn't have it. For a game where the mouse is used to attack but not as a directional control (position of the mouse is irrelevant), it is unbearable to die because you accidentally click outside of your window. For single-screen setups it is no issue, but for anyone with two or more screens, it's ANNOYING. The display settings "Window", Maximized" and "fullscreen" are meaningless. They are basically two Window settings and a borderless window, as real fullscreen includes Mousecapturing. Real Fullscreen also doesn't allow other windows on top of it.

This either concludes to the developers complete incompetence or ignorance toward that issue that has been reported for over 5 years by many players.

2) Input Lag.

Every now and then, the game gains intensive input lag. This means, in the middle of a ranked game, your inputs take up to 1s until they reach the game and are executed. Sometimes keyboard inputs do not reach the game before mouse inputs, sometimes it's reversed. All suggestions you can find online talk about wireless devices, but input lag in Brawlhalla INCLUDES input from devices that are DIRECTLY plugged into the mother board with USB. This input lag also exclusively affects Brawlhallla. No other game I played in the past 10 years had this issue.

3) New Characters

Since Tezca, they almost exclusively introduced Characters whose abilities you can shamelessly spam, have a high attack speed and due to animations are sometimes annoying to dodge. Legends from Tezca up until today don't require you to be able to do anything but spam your buttons. They live in the fallacy that only adding new legends is game-development. But balancing, bugfixes or fixes of said technical issues are not in their interest.

Those 3 points are almost game-breaking and will let the game die off whenever there will be another f2p brawlgame on the market that compares to this game and has the competency Brawlhalla is lacking. It is a game without competition and only survives as long there is none.

A sweet little puzzle and exploring game. Not narrative driven and startin very mysteriously, I enjoyed the simplicity of the environment, the story it tells and the puzzles it offers. Absolute worth its money. Thank you a lot for the journey! :)

It's a nice little game that focuses a bit more on handling a gun.
It's actually a bit challanging even though it looks quite simple. Worth to take a look at.

Forces you to connect with Epic account, even though they always promised you don't have to.

Technically, you still don't have to, but if you want to play with friends, you are forced to connect as inviting over steam doesn't work otherwise.

Cheater infested online mode and R* isn't doing anything against it.
