I'm a MTG player, but this is a much more solid system for playing cards than magic provides. I'm kind of mid on yugioh as a card game, but learning it has been easy and I could make my first meta deck deck for free after playing all the solo stuff.

This game is fantastic. Nearly 1:1 on the pathfinder rule set, more than enough classes and specializations. It s a bit buggy (like skipping actions used) at release here, but I haven't ran into anything that breaks my game or leaves me high and dry. After a few patches this will be the video game Pathfinder deserves to have and until then I still highly recommend this game for any pathfinder fan.

I will start off by saying the story to this game is great, if you want a great story and can push past some of the glaring faults with this game you'll be satisfied enough.

That being said this game does not know what it is trying to be gameplay and mechanics wise. Your melee attack damage is not upgradable this is important to mention as a big problem with this game places it somewhere between open world stealth, 3rd person shooter, and hack n slash and can't quite hit any of them right.

Open world stealth - the melee weapon can one shot any small-medium size enemy if you are not noticed, which is great however there are many parts of the game where you are forced in non-stealth situations which leads in the next problem:

Hack n Slash - the melee weapon (outside of stealth) appears only be used to knock off robot parts, outside of that the damage is uniquely terrible. No other non-utility weapon does as little damage as the melee weapon in open combat. Even worse the damage can be reduced by small enemies if they block, a power you do not have nor can stop with any melee attacks.

3rd Person Shooting - The better functionality of the game, and i would say to stick with it as best you can, however again the game forces you into countless fights where you get rushed by enemies. several boss fights feature large, round, open rooms with no cover and a big monster. In addition the robots also have a multitude of ranged attacks per robot, AoE's if you're in melee range, and hit tracking (the attacks will follow you after being initiated) on most melee attacks (I've seen boulders be lobbed at me and make a 180 degree turn mid air. as well)

The whole game ends up being more of an exercise in frustration of design. I chose to not even bother with the DLC, I would recommend watching the story online or waiting to see if a movie gets made.

This game blends together the best elements of the rogue-like genre, combat feels good and gameplay is quick yet challenging.

Probably the best game in the "Tales of" series, all of which are very good

Yo paid for two copies of this game just so the other player can screw me over
