It took I don't know how many years and iterations of this game for me to finally get to the "end" of the campaign. I firmly believe this is a very important one to run through for just about anyone. A lot of the themes are solid and respectful allegories about mental illnesses, the game play and story telling have moved leaps and bounds from what I remember way back when (no pun intended), the scoring is powerful and beautiful. It's more or less truly a free game, unless you don't want it to be, that can be enjoyed solo but enjoyed better with friends. It's by no means flawless, but it's worth the pedestal a great many people put it on.

I won't lie, I got a bit concerned when I went to get the link for the release trailer for a friend and I saw a bunch of "this was disappointing" in the results before I go the chance to give it a try, but I can't say I share in the disappointment.

The graphics are very good. the game is visually beautiful and the mocap/animations in particular feel substantially better than the original. The world feels a great deal more open and is absolutely gorgeous as a result. There's also some wild details to character models that I have noticed/that people watching me play have pointed out to me.

The game play itself is about the same as the original, and ultimately not all that complex. The combat style is really basic, it's a lotta walking and looking at scenery. That said, it doesn't necessarily need to be in my opinion, as both titles have seemed to be more focused on the general spectacle in both art direction and story. I do understand how that can be make or break for some, people, though so use that information as you will.

That said, at about 6 or so hours for an initial run, I feel the story is well put together. I wont say it hit me nearly as hard as the prior did, but that's no where near saying I'm disappointed in what I got. It feelt like a very natural next step in the over arching tale with only one or two minor inconsistencies that I've noticed. Not entirely sure if I agree that the latter half felt rushed like I keep seeing; but I am, however, kind of curious if they're going to do anything with the ending as it does feel a bit more.....sequel baitey than the last one did if only by a little bit.

all in all 9/10

At the time of writing this, I don't have a lot of the time in the game. That said, the little time has been very fun, but more importantly I've seen very few modern communities successfully revert wildly silly and moderately tone deaf corporate decisions, let alone with the active and loud support of the devs. That's absolutely a group of people I can recommend regardless of my enjoyment of the game itself.

I keep coming back to this game on occasion and it still has a lot of it's charm from when I played it way back. small community, though it has grown a bit or at least some new faces have cycled in, which means you get a bunch of repeat faces which can be a blessing or a curse depending on if you can play well with others or not. I've yet to not find a lobby that's not been, if not willing to actively participate in, at least be accepting of goofy antics and generally delightful to be around.

The art style is cute, the atmosphere is welcoming and lighthearted, the game play is just simple enough that it's easy to pick up and run with but has just enough nuance to it to make it feel rewarding when you do start to get rolling. very good title that's worth your free time after a stressful day.

Rolled up on some mans cabin in a three stack. Proceeded to lob enough cs gas and high velocity rubber balls to strip whatever paint was on the walls down to bare wood into said cabin. Arrest the two men on the main floor and stack up on a door to move further in. lead checks door for traps, finds none, breaches the door, and ends up a fine mist on the opposite wall anyway.

10/10

Jokes aside, the 1.0 update is pretty stellar. Beyond some mild what I can only assume to be net issues on my end causing things like traps and evidence to occasionally not pop up for friends, and maybe some ai tweaks; while not perfect, things feel a great bit smoother and more stable fps wise, the gun play is just as nice as it always was, and the addition of un-lockable cosmetics you get some more reasons to come back and try things in different ways. Given this is coming from someone who has almost exclusively played co-op with friends, so take that into account. Absolutely pick this up, if you're considering it, and best of luck out there!

The story's pretty eh and kind of all over the place, and the missions are largely "cram as much ♥♥♥♥ in a small room as we can and force the player to do it all in one life" at least on legend. Strand is pretty neat and fun to play around with, and the season stuff isn't too too bad, though. I'd say go for it if you really want it. If you're just starting, though, just get the witch queen up till now bundle and decide from there. This isn't really worth being your starting point, at least in my opinion.

Early Access Review
your game will lag, there's no getting around this unless you avoid public lobbies all together or put an absurd amount of money into your rig (and even then it's less an if and more a when). That aside, if you give it a chance, you'll meet some great people and you'll meet some not so great people. It's got some pretty fun user created games, and some pretty damn gorgeous user created worlds. you can throw parties, you can watch some dude scream through a lobby and wonder what his neighbors think, you can stare blankly at a child telling you they're "cracked at fortnight" while wearing the resemblance of well endowed anime girl.

I also blacked out drunk in my living room wearing easily a grand in hardware at least three separate times. 10/10 best social sandbox game experience since my sl days.

An edit to an edit:

With recent updates certain amounts of improvement have been made. the road map is substantially clearer and a second more palatable promise has been made about the QoL improvements, good job. That being said, I'm a very burned me and don't trust easily. The difference is going to lay in whether or not the ball keeps rolling and things come out within a reasonable amount of time. Not necessarily when stated, but within reason using the expressed timeline as a base line. It's things like this that we should weigh when considering if it's worth things like a ten dollar sub. I don't expect much from a free game, and it delivers a perfectly fine experience for that provided you're willing to put the effort in to curate your own experience, and do as stated in the original review.

That being said, while I agree that EAC is a dog water program and that they could have done leagues better on their own home brew solution with some time, time is fleeting and I can't justly appraise anythings effectiveness on public lobbies, as I haven't sat in one of my own volition in ages. Mods may have made my life substantially easier and more stable, but at the end of the day I'm not sure if they're worth burning memories over. That and my original review was made while I was still not using them if memory serves, so it feels incredibly disingenuous to throw a fit over them leaving in the same space. If they continue as they have due to the backlash I will happily resume support but, as stated before, I'm too burned of a man to trust on word alone. I strive to be as fair as I can be, as I hope we can all be regardless of how upset we are.

It's a hoard game bout aliums, not much else can be said. Decent game play wise, but the longer I play the more obvious it is how low the player count actually is. Over all, not really anything breath taking but it's got nothing that's really worth complaining about either. Pretty sure someones lover left them for some corn bread though, cuz man the npcs seem to hate it.
