I mostly like the gameplay and I'm probably going to keep playing this game for years until the next one, so why am I not recommending it as of now?

*a lot of post release bs - the Tekken store, Tekken coins instead of buying directly and all the modern gaming ftp bs in a 70$ game
*the publisher isn't honest, I honestly don't mind the shop, it's just scummy to wait until reviews are done and then release this, and the shop is pretty crap also.
I got the ultimate edition and I feel pretty screwed about needing to pay for the new stage that came with Heihachi, shouldn't it be included?

hopefully this is just the "arcade" period and the game will be better and Bamco will sort its ♥♥♥♥ out.

I really like this game,
the problem is running it on modern hardware (or at least that's what I got from searching it).

I playing with a pretty "modern" setup:
2080
9700k
32gb ram
of an ssd

so even though Bethesda games are considered jank - this one is the jankiest on my hardware so far.
when the game was released I didn't have any of the following problems:

*constant crashing - at least 6-7 times in a 3 hour playtime
*game speeding up or slowing down - apparently have a screen that is capable for more than 120Hz is a big no no in this game, it took me a while before realizing I have to set my screen to 120Hz instead of 280 which made the game run on super speed for some reason
*soft locks because my game doesn't like my PC - occasionally I get soft locked when I have a task to:
1) get on a vertibird but it doesn't let me
2) talk to someone and it doesn't let me
3) loot something but it doesn't let me
4) open a door but it doesn't let me

these are the most common ones that I encounter every time I boot the game but there's a bunch more that I can't remember from the top of my head.

why the recommendation though?
well, I'm biased, I really like the game if not for all the technical problems, honestly it's a good game that is worth to play, it's just that those problems really ruin the experience

2.6 hours review so it's really surface level, I'll add some edits as I progress.

my specs:
i7 9700k
2080 strix
32 gigs of ram
running of a 980 pro ssd

the game looks astonishingly good and runs surprisingly good, averages 100 fps on high settings(with dlss, no ray tracing and turned off film grain and motion blur, otherwise didn't touch any settings), I've seen a lot of people with 30 and 40 series cards in a few other games having problems with crashing, don't know if it's confirmed but usually the people who have problems are with those cards and people without any are with older ones, just an observation. I don't know anything about AMD cards :P

this game brings me so much nostalgia, it instantly reminds me why I fell in love with the original ones on ps2 when I was a kid.
I'm playing on the hardest difficulty on controller, the games is surprisingly challenging also but in a good and fun-fair way, I've died in the arena at least 10 times
there's a ton of super fun and creative weapons(as expected from a game that had a gun that turns people into sheep)
the 3 bosses I've fought were massive in scale, god of war 1-3 style and well made
the new darksouls like dash is also a very good addition imo
so far It was a blast, I hope the rest of the game is as good!

running on a 9700k and 2080, 32GB ram of an SSD

the game works almost perfectly for me, everything is fine except some weird texture glitches that make Joel look like an AI tried to draw him.
I noticed a weird phenomenon, a lot of people with 30 series and beyond are having frequent crashes or can't even boot the game up, while most of the people saying it's working just fine are 20 series and older, don't really know anything about AMD cards.

Edit: as of today, 4/4/23 it was actually confirmed that 30 series and later caused crashes so my observation was correct, apparently it was fixed today

TBH, if the game runs like it does for me I totally recommend it, but most likely it's not going to, I suggest waiting for it to get patched before buying because the shader compilation takes forever, took me around an hour and a half personally which means I barely had time to check out the actual game before deciding if I'm going to refund it or not so take this into consideration.

if you want an actual review of the story and gameplay you should check on youtube, it's an old game and there's people that can review it much better than me.

*I've played for about an hour and 4 of the 7 campaign missions so take my review with a grain of salt*
overall the game was fun and enjoyable but the thing I didn't like were deal breakers for me:

*there's not really any variety in enemy types - there's 2 melee types - regular katana wielding bots and a bit stronger katana bots, 3 long range shooty bots - one with a rifle, a shotgun and a sniper - sounds like a lot but they all look the same and just run towards you.
*the movement on paper is awesome but you clip through walls and get stuck a lot of the time and forced to use the teleport, also a lot of the times it just doesn't register the movement or turning joysticks(mainly because you're stuck in the floor and have to teleport)
*going through the menus is tedious, if you want to navigate it normally you have to turn off room turning(turning with the joystick) because you will do a 180 every time you try to scroll down and teleport forward every time you try to scroll up
*this is subjective but the game looks bad - everything is blocky and blurry even though I had everything on max an AA on x8(I know it's an old game and the studios first vr game, there's just better new game rn)

I haven't tried the multiplayer or the crafting and all of that because I was struggling just navigating and playing the game so I don't know about those

the upcoming game they are going to release(says 2022 q4 which means really soon) looks like the upgraded version of this game so I hope they will deliver because the game could be a 10/10 if not the things i mentioned above

I'm 13 hours in, still haven't finished the game, this is my review so far:

*looks amazing - very detailed environments, interesting looking character design
*runs smoothly - though I'm using a 2080 so your experience may vary, but runs smooth af and everything is cranked to the max including ray tracing and DLSS on quality.
*gameplay is fun enough - you basically have a few systems: you control Peter exclusively but you have skills for your other guardians that you can use whenever(they have a cooldown) which you can combo together, either with themselves or with the environment. peter has some of his own skills and elemental weapons that you HAVE to use in order to kill some mobs - basically the combat mechanic isn't really that complex and deep but it's hella fun and pretty fluid...unless it's the ship battle...that was clunky and unfun for me.
*story, lore, dialogue and interactions with the world and between the guardians of the galaxy is *chefs kiss* - the story itself is pretty fun, not the best ever but it's fun, I personally enjoyed so far. there's tons of text logs scattered around the maps that give some lore about what's happening right now or in the past - really recommend reading all of them, they're not that long. and now the creme de la creme - the dialogues - easily the best part of the game for me, characters are deep, true to their sources, feels like you actually playing as the guardians of the galaxy, I won't expend too much on it, you gotta experience it yourself ;)

I would rate this game 8.5\10 -almost everything is 10/10 in this game, the combat started to get boring a little after a couple of fights and there was a bug that kept repeating itself at random time that despawns bosses which made me restart the game. for me personally it's not a deal breaker because the rest of the game was really polished.

This game was played on a computer with:
2080Ti
I7-9700k
32GB of ram

played on a Quest 2

well the game is just way too laggy and broken.
there are stutters every 0.2 seconds, everything's too blurry.
I had to download like 100+GB of mods to make it bearable.
at the state the game is now absolutely not recommending it, even with mods, just play the regular one, you'll have a much better experience that way
